Jaymes Monte picks out his best bet as the tournament is blown wide open following Taylor's exit...

John Part said before this tournament that he still believes that he has another World Championship title in his locker. Now that Phil Taylor is out of the equation that possibility is not as farfetched as it maybe once seemed. Not that The Power's presence would have intimidated Darth Maple, at his best the Canadian still is as good as anyone in the world.

He hasn't shown his best in this tournament so far, but is displaying the upward trend in form that is required to win a world title. And Part would know.

On the two occasions that Part has won the PDC World Championship title, he has beaten Kevin Painter in the semi-final. This time he'll need to do so at the last-16 stage. The Artist has picked up where he left off at the Players Championship Finals a fortnight ago, but I fear he may not be able to maintain that level of form to make it back-to-back titles.

There were moments in his second round match against Mark Walsh when it looked as though Painter's championships may come to an end, but he was gritty enough to dig out the win. However, against an opponent of equal grit and determination he may not get the opportunity to do so.

Part took his three-dart average from just under 89 to just under 92 in his second round win over Richie Burnett. A similar improvement would see Part reach the quarter-finals stage for the first time since last winning the title in 2008, and at the odds on offer he looks very good value to do so.

Recommended Bet:

Back John Part to beat Kevin Painter @ 2.44
