Developments on Monday morning leave Carlos Tevez almost certain to end his two-year stay at Manchester City, with confirmation that a bid from Corinthians for the club's captain has been accepted prompting punters to back him to go at 1.01.

Both the Argentine striker and his adviser Kia Joorabchian revealed last week after the Brazilian table-toppers first made clear their interest that it would be an ideal transfer for the 27-year-old and the main stumbling block looked to be whether they had the funds to make a satisfactory offer.

However, Roberto Mancini's announcement on Sky Sports that a deal had been agreed appears to pave the way for the unsettled star to discuss personal terms with the side that he played for before first moving to the Premier League with West Ham in 2006.

While Tevez's 43 league goals in the last two campaigns will be tough for Manchester City to replace, supporters may perhaps be relieved to see an end in sight to the will-he-or-won't-he-go saga that first became a major issue when he submitted a transfer request last December.

There is obviously no shortage of funds to attempt to adequately replace him with and Mancini has already admitted that reports that his international colleague Sergio Aguero, who outscored him by three goals to zero in the Copa America before Argentina's exit on Saturday, is a leading target.

The subject of whether Tevez would remain in Manchester beyond the summer had plenty of twists, with odds of 4.7 at one stage available on him sticking around for the 2011-12 season.

His anticipated departure hasn't altered the view of Mancini's men as title contenders though, with 5.2 the price currently available on them finishing top. Their plans to strengthen by signing Samir Nasri - 1.71 to leave Arsenal - and Aguero are no doubt a factor in that retention of faith.

It will also boost to the Blues' Champions League chances if they sell Tevez to Corinthians rather than a team that they are at risk of facing in Europe. A triumphant first crack at the competition is judged unlikely still however at 23.0.
