I've been back and forth with Betfair Mobile support for almost a week now with no success. Maybe if others give their experiences we can resolve the issue.

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 V4.5 software and was using the mobile app successfully for at least 3 years. But since the mandatory upgrade to 3.8 I can no longer get it working - get general network error 27. For a while I couldn't even download the app and still couldn't with the blackberry browser (Betfair general error) but was able to download it with Opera mini - although it downloaded it as blackberry generic device?

Anyways the app is now on my phone but I can't get it operating - still get error 27. I checked with the phone service provider and there are no blocks, all APN settings are correct, all caches etc. are cleared and I changed the TLS to handheld. Still won't work. My hunch is that maybe the new version of the mobex app just isn't compatible with non 3G smart phones.

Anyone find success somehow that had similar issues?

Hi Henderson,

Firstly... let me just say that we of course regret that you are experiencing problems, but your hunch is incorrect :) - We have lots of customers that continue to use the product on a lot older handsets than yours.

As you know, error 27 is a network issue so somewhat out of Betfair's control. The fix is usually the APN settings as you mention, so it is strange that you are still experiencing problems.

My suggestion would be to delete the version of the app you currently have, ensure APN settings are fully up to date, call the help desk and ask them to delete your previous download caches (they have a tool for this), then ask them to send you the right link for your device and download via the normal BlackBerry browser. It may also help to download the app via a wifi connection in the first instance.

It seems you've tried many of these things already but sometimes the trick with BlackBerry is to go right back to the start. Sorry again for the inconvenience caused.

Thanks,
BF Mobile
