I've been loving betfair for ages but recently during the world cup i noticed that the site was mucking up my bets. Two things have been happening. First i would place bets and see that they were multiplying (so I place a bet for £50 and then I've laid 5 x 1 bet at £50 = £250). Additionally I've also seen stakes either doubling within one bet or just not being the same that i put down (so a bet for £50 turns into a bet for £100).
All of these erroneous bets have been logged in my account and I've been in touch with betfair but they just tell me "I must have had multiple windows open, unchecked an option, or inadvertently placed them without realising. There is 1 example of 2 bets placed at the same time for £150 and £85 being replicated 5 times each and placed at exactly the same time.
I've checked the figures and whilst I have benefited in a few instances I've got erroneous bets to the net value of - £1925!!!
I've also videod it happening and it continues to happen radomly after I called them.
i posted in the wrong section so apologies but not on the mobile, through a macbook and using safari. I've not seen any posts for people having issues with a mac and they are usually less prone to viruses and the like than PCSs. BF are due to come back to me tomorrow and hopeful that they may compensate - but call me pessimistic I'm not hopeful.
Have you tried to get compensated when it happened to you or did you just brush it off? Have you heard of anyone else getting compensated?

I got this problem using a samsung netbook running google chrome, i hsve no problem on my laptop or any other pc, its a complete mystery to me, i originally thought i had some virus or spyware, but ive done all the scans and nothing came to light. Its still happening on my samsung netbook about 5 months on, i just dont use the netbook for placing bets, i did the other day just to see if it was still doing it, had £10 on a horse, ended up with 2 £10 bets on it (£20) i have brushed it off,it hasnt really cost me any money unlike yourself, but its damn annoying, glad im not the only one, i did post something several months ago but no one had the same problem unfortunately.

Anyhows I managed to get a settlement from betfair today so I'm more than ecstatic. Whilst they held their ground and didnt really deal with my issues my last email, which mentioned reverting to IBAS (betting arbitration service) if i didnt get some form of compensation or gesture of goodwill, seemed to do the trick.
All is forgiven betfair!! They dealt with it ultimately in the end but at least they did it.
My advice back to the board is 1) if you notice anything going wrong then notify them as soon as it happens 2) be persistent but pleasant 3) get support from the boards here - lots of good advice and likely to find evidence that you're not the only one affected by the issue 4) keep records and especially download your accounts and check frequently 5) give them time to sort it out acknowledging they will naturally not want to help in the first instant 6) use the IBAS leverage 7) there's also the bookmakersreview site that may take up your challenge
All in all I'm ultimately really pleased with the resolution and relatively happy about how they handled it.
Now i can get back to loosing money without betfair helping me!!
thanks everyone for your help
