DEFINITIVE Best Phone for Betfair Mobile Thread

Not bothered about the Forum frankie - what's it's operation like please?

It's hard to give a definitive "best" phone for Betfair really. But for various reasons I've got a few handsets and use Betfair on all of them so can say the following.

My everyday combination at the moment is the BlackBerry Bold 9700
on Vodafone with the following APN settings:
APN: internet
APN username: web
APN password: web
The download works a dream on this, especially when I'm on wi-fi. The APN also seems to be the most reliable for me when others can get a bit busy.
Other people may be able to suggest different ones that work well on race days?

I also have an iPhone and have used this on the standard iPhone APN with 02 (idata), the general WAP (wap.02.co.uk) and mobile web (mobile.02.co.uk)
iPhone.betfair.com works well on this when there's a good connection, really very usable over wi-fi.
The idata APN tends to be a better than the others especially on race days when there's a big crowd so I tend to make sure I have it with me at the big meets.

My Nexus One (Android) phone is similar to the iPhone really and use iPhone.betfair.com on this too. I prefer it overall as a phone and it's more responsive generally. However the quality of the experience really depends on the performance of the networks and while it's great on wi-fi or when there's not too many people using the network it suffers once the bandwidth gets used up.

My Sony Ericsson w715 is often with me as a backup, it's got great battery life, Wi-Fi and solid network hardware. It's also small enough not to be a hassle to drop into a pocket along with my main handset.
The app performs well on this little one, but input and screen size are much nicer on my BB.
I tend to use this on Vodafone data networks and it's comparable to the Bold. Of course it will not be any different from the others when the networks are a bit slow but as long as you've got a good connection this one is a good, and cheaper, alternative to a Blackberry.

This is just my experience and I'm sure that other people will have different ones on other handsets \network combinations, especially on big race days where the networks get hammered.

I'm sure that other people will have their own preferences too and it would be great to hear if anyone can confirm (or completely debunk) what I've found :)
