"Upon consideration of the evidence Member Wentworth was not satisfied that ‘Charge 2’ was proven as it was not established that Mr Douglas was aware it was the HRV Stewards he was running from given they had not had the opportunity to identify themselves. The HRV RAD Board decision in relation to this charge was set aside."
I can't decide if that is hilarious or sad. |

Must be a fast runner in an environment of lots of hiding places----they didnt think to look in the dog kennel
when HRV Stewards approached Mr Douglas he ran and concealed himself in a dog kennel. |

Interesting to see if one or more of them change their plea --guess we'll find out how thick their friendships are--especially if they are looking at a custodial sentence.
As the hearing entered its second week, witness David Bartley yesterday asked Magistrate John Murphy to forego his evidence for fear of ruining his relationship with his daughter. ‘‘I do not wish to give evidence against her ... she’s my baby girl,’’ he told Shepparton Magistrates’ Court. |

How bout that squirrel grip story from Globe Derby
![]() “He came about six metres forward to be standing right in my face, with our noses touching,” Bain said. “While he was going off he said he was going to put me on my arse so hard I wouldn’t get up for a week. “I put my hands behind my back to show I wasn’t going to resort to violence, but he lunged at me, grabbed my knackers and gave a severe twist. http://harnessnews.com.au/2017/12/squirrel-grip-assault-charges-pending/ |

Harness-racing trainer arrested in race-fixing probe
November 16, 2017 6:47pm A VICTORIAN harness racing trainer has been arrested by police as part of a criminal investigation. The Herald Sun has been told the inquiry is looking into allegations of race-fixing from several years ago. Detectives from Victoria Police’s sporting integrity intelligence unit executed two warrants in central Victoria on Tuesday. Searches were made of properties in the Bendigo area. A Victoria Police spokesman said a 60-year-old man was arrested and interviewed. He was later released from custody pending summons. That man has been a harness racing trainer for decades. “The investigation remains ongoing,” the police spokesman said. It is believed the current investigation originated with Harness Racing Victoria, before intelligence gathered by its officials was passed to police. A harness racing figure connected to the properties declined to comment when contacted by the Herald Sun. “I’ve got no comment at all,” he said. Victoria Police set up the sporting integrity intelligence unit in 2013 amid heightened corruption concerns. It has previously run significant investigations into claims of **** events in harness racing across the state. They included a probe which resulted in prominent Mildura figures Shayne and Greg Cramp pleading guilty to criminal charges of race fixing and being hit with community corrections orders. The father-and-son team were also suspended from the sport until 2027 after an internal inquiry. In a separate probe, arrests were made last year over allegations that a 2015 race at the Cobram track in northern Victoria was fixed. Harness Racing Victoria has moved to protect the sport from corruption in recent years. It has heavily bolstered its investigative and integrity areas in a bid to identify and weed out rogue operators. The anti-corruption fight took to the skies earlier this year when HRV investigators used a drone to capture images of a trainer-driver stomach-tubing a horse on April 6. Brian Sylvia later pleaded guilty at a stewards’ inquiry and was disqualified from the sport for 15 months. Stomach-tubing, or drenching, involves administering a bicarbonate solution in the period before a race to neutralise the build-up of lactic acid in a horse. This, in turn, enhances the animal’s stamina. |

Cramp and son--
Shayne Cramp, 31, Victoria's leading trainer in 2013-14, and his father, 58, pleaded guilty on Thursday to fixing a race in Mildura on November 12 last year, in a scheme that pocketed the younger man $820 in a trifecta bet. The men were charged over the November 12 race, where they both drove horses and arranged for the son to win and the father finish second, ahead of another trainer's horse. Shayne Cramp had bet $100 on a trifecta through an associate, but there was no evidence his father made any profit, the court heard. and yet NRL/cricket/soccer players manipulate matches in slow motion right under the noses of all with many many 100's k's involved (with huge element of that money laundering and the Mr Magoo's of the relevant task forces cant find evidence ----- ![]() ![]() |

Cobram 07/01/18 R7 :-
"Maggies Grin was extremely fractious in the parade ring and refused to enter the track despite concerted efforts from driver Laura Crossland and a number of connections. Nathan Jack was the approved late driver change for this mare, as Ms Crossland did not feel it was safe to continue in her attempts to get the mare to proceed to the start. Maggies Grin continued to be extremely fractious before warming up appropriately in the preliminary. This mare has now been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial. Stewards refrained from taking action against Nathan Jack for applying the whip to Maggies Grin on one occasion when not holding a rein while attempting to get the mare to proceed to the start. Maggies Grin tired badly to beaten 69m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities other than a slower than expected recovery rate. Driver Nathan Jack (Maggies Grin) was queried in relation to the overall performance of his drive and the tactics adopted. Mr Jack stated that his drive was extremely worked up and he progressed forward three wide during the initial stages with the intent of challenging for the lead however Maggies Grin was unable to muster sufficient speed to issue a genuine challenge to Swiftly Tothebeach and therefore raced without cover for the final mile. Mr Jack further added that Maggies Grin was a beaten horse with approximately 600m to travel and the mare’s antics prior to the start, in his opinion were a major contributing factor. How on earth was this horse allowed to start on a 40c day. Treating punters like mugs |

You'll never see the three wide all the way performance from Lazarus in Vic. The stewards would give M Purdon 6 weeks..should've gone back to last! They stamp out competition just want processions.
