I know we are only 5 rounds in to the season, so there is time for them to turn it around, but what is wrong with this team? Could they possibly be tanking? It's a crazy thought but they really are under performing. The first couple of rounds I thought, "gee, they're playing as though they have had a poor off-season and look under prepared", but I figured they would come good as most top sides do after losing a couple. The betting markets agree. They came in to this game against Carlton today as 40 point favourites. At home, with their backs against the wall and needing a win. Carlton are also 0-4 and last year's wooden spooners. It is a perfect opportunity to kick start their season. Yet they are playing awful. Basic skill errors. Turn overs galore. Ballantyne whacked a player and he'll be out for a couple weeks. They're not playing like a team striving to see September action. It's probably a combination of factors that is causing this but can anyone shed some light on what's going on there? Do they have a problem with the coach? Is there division amongst the team?
easy answer evee....... three guns are GONZO. Gun ruckman stuffed for long time with 6 fractured ribs, one taken out i believe, Gun midfielder not recovered from fractured leg, Gun centre half forward too old but coaxed to continue on while they poach a crack forward from another side (Cale Hooker was top forward before Knights/Thomson sent him back... hope freo haven't poached him off us)

Mundy not mentioned either ..... no value at all mike, essendon and carlton have as much chance of getting 7 or 9 imo. who is going to get them there, without making me laugh. lay lay lay.

McPharlin and Johnson massive losses too. Taberner hasn't stepped up, he's just a liability in the short term atleast, same goes for Griffin. Freo are desperate to find players that can take a contested mark, not just in the forward line but right across the ground. As a Melbourne supporter I'm a bit worried they'll throw everything at Hogan to land him at Freo

they've missed out on Hooker thank goodness, we've just thrown the chequebook at him. soooooo ...... good luck to melbourne with jessie hogan . He looks like he is playing for another side already imo ..... another sleeper that melbourne wont want to offer a nice retainer at seasons end

Maybe, just maybe, Hogan will conclude that Melbourne have a more promising future than Freo
Freo don't exactly have elite young players coming through the ranks, most of their young players are ordinary at best. The two things they have going for them are Ross Lyon and Fyfe when he's fit
