Colac /ˈkoʊlæk/[2] is a small city[3] in the Western District of Victoria, Australia, approximately 150 kilometres south-west of Melbourne on the southern shore of Lake Colac and the surrounding volcanic plains, approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) inland from Bass Strait. Colac is the largest city in and administrative centre of the Colac Otway Shire. At the 2006 census, Colac had a population of 10,857 and at the 2011 census they had a population of 11,415.

A commercial centre for a major agricultural district, it was named after nearby Lake Colac and was proclaimed a city in 1960.

Meanwhile, Bathurst is a regional city in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia. It is approximately 200 kilometres (120 mi) west of Sydney and is the seat of the Bathurst Regional Council. Bathurst is the oldest inland settlement in Australia and had an estimated population of 35,391 as at June 2014.
