Esperance is a town[2] in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, on the Southern Ocean coastline approximately 720 kilometres (450 mi) east-southeast of the state capital, Perth. Esperance is home to 9,919 people (2011 census).[1] Its major industries are tourism, agriculture, and fishing. The Shire of Esperance is home to 13,477 people.
Esperance is at the southern end of the Coolgardie–Esperance Highway and the eastern end of the South Coast Highway, both highways forming a part of Australia's Highway 1.
The city is connected by public transport to Perth, Albany and Kalgoorlie via Transwa coach services GE1, GE2, GE3 and GE4.
Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (formerly Skywest Airlines) has daily flights to/from Perth, arriving and departing from Esperance Airport. The airport is also used for general aviation.
The Esperance Branch Railway is a standard gauge railway line from Kalgoorlie to Esperance, linking the region to the Trans-Australian Railway and the Eastern Goldfields Railway. This is a freight-only railway and no passenger services currently run.

Racing has been a large part of the Esperance Community for more than 100 years, being conducted at various locations, such as Pink Lake, Bow's Farm and the "old" racecourse on Lake Road. 1984 saw the move to the present day location on Fisheries Rd, near Bandy Creek. The EBTC now boast a 1900m grass track which is equal to any grass track in country W.A. Esperance is renowned for having some of the best beaches in Australia, and now has racetrack to match... Can't really see Dissident getting rolled today but its a bit rude making them a bet of the day at $1.70
 reckon ill just be watching.Early thoughts are Big Mammaries wins the last. WA horse was a huge run the other day although he looked surprisingly wound up prerace. Prob have a raffle tkt on Shamal wind but ill be playing extremely small through today, not a card that suits my style. Gl all |

TINS..very naive of you to think that These jockeys are exceptional at race riding and judges of pace and sectionals... What you saw was a BOAT RACE. (Aliens had identified 4 lays in that race (usually just 1 at most..called Bonaria cause that was the most reliable of alien patterns) |
