West Australian heat is no good, Hercules should beat those ants from the back row?
No idea how they graded the two Sydney heats, best horse around in the supplementary heart, triple NZ Cup winner also in the supplementary heat. They are having a lend surely?
The feeling by probably many is Beautide will be an impenetrable wall with nothing from behind to pass him.
Leads by arrangement with Lenny (for Lenny to be sucked into second place prizemoney) or sits in the death and controls the race (as death seats do in distance races)
Guess stating the obvious above but sometimes good to state

Like Fight to Glory in the next, although the good odds have already gone. Gifted race last week but still looked sensational running that 54.9 last half. Delight Me also had everything go her way but wasn't nearly as impressive for mine.

Well I was way off that time, what an extraordinary win! 1:47.7 wow. Three wide to the death. One of the best wins you'll ever see.
There's got to be something freaky going on with the track though. She got beat in 1:52.1 last year so on times she has run 50 metres better today which defies belief.

The 147.7 looks great but the track is in embarrassing condition. Why have it 2 seconds faster today? Ive Gottalife sitting parked in sub 1.51.0 Total and utter champion no doubt at all. But clearly it is like concrete

Absolute superstar and a nice rip up by woodley david hercules made two big runs around the field if he had just sat quietly and come with the one run he may have snagged a place. even money after the barrier draw even having to bet into an all in arket that was stealing money, lennytheshark weak as. Beautide is arguably the best I've ever seen when he's right to sit in the breeze and destroy them twice in the inter finals and running those sort of times is nothing short of extraordinary

Thinking the distance should go back to 2609 or thereabouts....
Took lot of the 1.8 last night on betfair,,,traded it back this morning (for reasons i dont even know)....
Yet on a boring mid week country maiden my page looks a lot lot different from a money perspective
From that point ..strange such a group 1 has limited appeal
Hope others gained the profits ....result was how most of our third eyes predicted...

Can't blame Woodley for trying to get to the death. he would have been hoping Beautide would let him go and then come around him. worth asking. it did not work so bad luck.

Harness racing to me is about speed and sectionals....3000m just too long to bring out that aspect to the races.....
(then again albion park was once the speed racing capital)
Apparently Silks restaurant is being re-invented there ...(under a marquee quite likely....man... in its day Silks really was a GREAT buffet

yes you can, he was never going to get the breeze off beautide and rattray obviously had a plan not to get involved early for the front and to just control the race from the breeze throughout and that's exactly what he did, a very good, very controlled drive that ensured he was absolutely zero chance of being beaten.

Who cares who is working or not. I'll work till I die. Go crazy if don't.
Hopefully all made an Earn today. Restructure is a Must. But over all it has worked. To many big races all to close to each other. Crazy Melton hasn't taken it.
Perth they need to do huge marketing to get the NZ and interstate horses or we could have discarded Vic horses running around in the final. Impressed by Derby winner and Webster must be fuming he never got a run but then again he did also run 2nd with the horse that is in the Up.

You won't ever catch me betting on greyhounds, hardly genius I try to restrict my decent bets to genuine quality and or up and coming horses and the better riders or driver GP if you know what you are doing is a licence to print a small profit each week ( one bet Pacifc warrior although I liked Ti Amo Franco but missed the race and still haven't had the opportunity to watch the replay) and its not hard to do form for ascot or Belmont. I had two bets in Melbourne Shamal Wind as I thought it was terrific and pride of dubai in the blue diamond as it clearly indicated at its previous start that it was the horse to beat in the race, Pride of Dubai was my only bet in the diamond and in the oakleigh I backed shamal wind and my old mate Bel Sprinter at the value and for once Shamal Wind was ridden properly couldn't believe Schofield's ride on earthquake as it couldn't possibly win that race charging forward like that, I thought it was the horse to beat if ridden correctly and had quinellas around it but also thought the price in a very open race was well and truly short enough and Battle Hero at ascot picked himself if you had been watching his progress through the country, he' a very nice horse and was massive overs in my opinion and I bet accordingly and had a nice double with She's a Virtues as I knew that Temporise couldn't give she's a virtue, who I've been on virtually every start, 5kg and a beating.

only had a handful of bets of bets I already told you I backed bel sprinter in the same race and had quinellsa with them and earthquake also had one battle hero with tonto, I was too busy todo anything much else also a token bet on real love in the Peter young liked the winner but couldnt bring myself to back it at WFA even with the fitness edge, also had a reasonable bet on carry the nation in the second at ascot and took some tri's in the inters wi anchoring david hercules to run a place and back him small a place at very big odds earlier inthe week, did my arrse on heezabeel at ascot on wednesday when it got its tongue over the bit and had a couple of doubles with it and backed a million tears first up at ballarat ran 2nd on thursday as I said I was having a poor week going into the weekend but started to right the ship somewhat with Pacific Warrior at GP and hardly backed a loser on saturday from a handful of bets.
Like I've said repeatedly I don't lie about what I do or don't do as I have no need to and why would I lie.
Next question

correct me if I'm wrong why on earth would I put all that work in to then tell someone like your good self, thought that one was a no brainer. I've got better things to do than waste my time tipping tipping on here, you questioned my integrity yet again, I merely exposed the fact you had erred in questioning my integrity yet again. Anyway I drclared beautide on here again for the second year running and the likes of lenny the cat and others are still running oh and I believe you said the Horsham cup was a weak form race and that the form was suspect or words to that effect, (as Philadelphia man clearly showed in the last 150m of the shep cup that he wasnt right again and I never backed him at either of his next two starts in the vic or Hunter Cups) correct me if Im wrong but I argued that it was a strong form race think arden rooney who was thrashed by Philadelphia man came out and then won within its next couple of starts the Hunter cup and the terang cup, restrepo then walked in a its next start start, with assessment like that AD please can you find me some "weak" form races

Now if we can get back on topic and stop talking to the aftertimer, I might address some proper harness form assessors.
How about the Auckland Cup field Friday night! Now that is grades above what we saw in the Inter Sunday, a much stronger race. Adore Me vs Christen Me and plenty of depth there with Sky Major, Smolda, Terror To Love, Ohoka Punter. That is the sort of race we want to see in our flagship event!

I don't agree that I was necessarily incorrect, as I said straight after his Shepparton Cup performance that he wasn't right in my opinion as he noticeably shortened stride after a very easy run in front for a horse of his quality, his performance was that far below his Horsham cup performance at his previous run it wasn't funny, a race in which he thrashed pointlessly the subsequent Hunter cup winner, not to mention for a reason who may or may not have had a legitimate excuse. On that basis I had plenty on him in the shep cup and got my fingers burnt but not one cent after that and his two subsequent efforts ndicated that my assessment of him not being right was pretty much spot on as does the fact that he hasn,t raced since, unless he had a virus or was bleeding or some other relatively minor ailment I seriously doubt if you'll see him again inside the next 6 months or perhaps even considerably longer.
Again correct me if I wrong but the fact that he was clearly sore or whatever again is hardly an accurate indication of his ability and I still think if he's right and sadly I fear that won't occur very often that he is the most exciting horse to come out of Victoria in years.
You can put an additional addendum to that also as I will never ever back him with hands of stone nathan jack driving him either, once he was on there was no way in hell I was backing him.

In his defence not that he deserves it but I will give it to him anyway, there's not much doubt that bitobliss was a horse of enormous potential but he clearly had big problems and eventually succumbed to them, still don't think he was quite as good as some thought he was but he was a very, very, nice horse when right.

Smolda the forgotten horse!? It's super short every start while endlessly getting beat. If you backed it every start you'd be about -75% on your investments. I can't believe it will actually be double figures in a race soon, it seems like a law of nature will be broken.

I haven't seen the race other than the last 100m as unfortunately we had a telstra outage in our area and I missed most of the early program as had no foxtel signal ( haven't seen the replay yet either) but hate to see what time beautide would have run in those conditions against that opposition over the mile, remember the conditions changed later in the day

She is probably too short. I think it has become clear that her and CM are the best two horses in Australasia (not by a long way mind). It is just great to see so much depth in the race. These are the horses we wanted in the Inter to make it a real Inter!!!!!!!
The race is probably as much about how Adore Me/Christen Me/Terror To Love have handled the tough racing over the last few months as anything else. Smolda, Ohoka Punter and Sky Major come off very different preps and may not be so battle scarred. Regardless, it is a great race ahead.

Probably the most riveting race as it panned we have seen this season the Auckland Cup.
And hopefully those who have taken pot shots at Christen Me are now conceding. He is BEYOND ANY DOUBT the best horse in the Southern Hemisphere now. The undisputed champ

Adore Me fans will claim she was not defeated this time - rather injured in running, and incredibly game.
Christen Me fans have the ca$h in their pockets - hard to deny or argue, he should not be diminished by her misfortune.
As they say in the classics -- that's racing -- and now that can be bar stool conversation forever more !!

I'm no horseman but you have to wonder if making her race so soon after such a fast run with a flight was the right thing. 20/20 vision after the event of course but I'd be amazed if it did not play a part.
Greed is a sin isn't it?

dead right AD, her runs this prep were outstanding.. some truly incredible performances.
Best mare of all time?? not sure a NZ Cup and a string of filles/mares races put it beyond doubt.

I was actually thinking yesterday where she rates as far mares go. I thought she is far and away the best since Blossom Lady, and if she had another season like she just had she would surpass Blossom Lady. Unfortunately she can't now

WOW!!
Champion mare Adore Me retired
08 March 2015 by Michael Guerin
Champion mare Adore Me has been retired after sustaining an injury.
New Zealand’s champion racing mare Adore Me has been retired after suffering a career-ending injury in Friday night’s Auckland Trotting Cup.
The Australasian record holder for a mile by a pacer, Adore Me suffered a fractured sesamoid bone when running second, beaten a nose in the Cup at Alexandra Park.
“The injury is in no way life threatening but the prognosis for her racing again wasn’t good after she was x-rayed yesterday,” said co-trainer Mark Purdon.
“And she is so valuable the decision to retire her to stud was obvious.”
Just seven days ago Adore Me set the record for the fastest mile by a pacer outside of North America when she clocked 1:47.7 at Menangle, outside Sydney. She then recorded one of the bravest performances of her career when she finished second in Friday’s Cup after galloping briefly at the 450m mark, which is when her injury is thought to have occurred.
Adore Me was New Zealand’s champion three and four-year-old of the last two seasons but her career went to another level when she smashed the world record for 3200m standing start winning New Zealand’s greatest harness race, the New Zealand Cup at Addington in November.
She then recorded a series of huge summer performances which left little doubt she is the greatest female harness horse produced in the Southern Hemisphere.
The five-year-old enters retirement after 36 starts for 26 wins and seven placings for $1,677,032 in earnings, including 12 group one wins.
She will be bred from starting later this year.

no doubt a great loss to the feature racing for the next year or so
in maybe a touch of irony, her 1.47 ran on a ridiculously hard menangle track might may have made her as a broodmare but ended her career on the race track??
