Kilmore History

Hume and Hovel passed through the area in 1824, naming the nearby Mount Disappointment.

White settlement appears to have begun with the arrival of squatters in 1837.

A maximum security prison, now the Old Kilmore Gaol, opened in 1859 and was later converted into a butter factory (1891), then a private home (1968).     It has since been opened to the public.

Even in the trotting world the hipster doofus who calls Tassie trots is much worse.

The 2:25 trot is an interesting 2 horse race.  Forced to choose one you have to follow the rule that in any race decided by the sprint lane Chris Lang will win so I'll go Kyvalley Pink.

Sprint lane wasn't used so that meant the other horse had a chance .  Massive win to Majestic Grace who surely would have got out to double figures in running after galloping out.

The sprint should be very exciting.  Will we see the 'real' Bitobliss tonight or his alter-ago, Lotsofpain.  The last time Bitobliss led and won a race was November 2012.

I've lost plenty on BoB thinking 'he just leads and wins!' in those 2 years so will not be backing him from the pole today.  From almost any other draw yes but I could not stand to fall for this yet again.

Fingers crossed he's come back though.

I know people don't listen to me, but I will keep telling you, Bitobliss is without doubt the best horse in the country but has crazy bad leg issues which mean he can't go for any more than 2-3 runs each prep.
This "he can't lead" rubbish is based on runs at the end of a prep. He is a better horse in front than anywhere else, check out his 1:51 in the Legends!!!

Great to see him back, hopefully he is kept fresh and he can beat anything

And to boot, he BROKE THE TRACK RECORD, yeah ..... he can't lead

Was an awesome win today.  Well done to all involved.

Especially liked how he held the front without moving a muscle, gunning him out to lead is usually not worth the cost.

Obviously he CAN lead and win but the fact is he doesn't do it that often.  'At the end of a prep' might be his 4th run back.

Hopefully he can hold it together for a bit cause he's a pure excitement machine when right.  We don't seem to see his best in the big races.

The trotters is an interesting race.  You could be all over El Paco over the staying trip but in 5 runs he's never finished better than 6th at Kilmore so you can't get too confident.

Had small on as I thought would be 1.5 and would of layed that price.
Talk on track was flying and trailed house down at Shep.
Guaranteed wins I'm catching Helicopter home.
Loses I'll be syponing petrol.
Going to be a great race.

I was small ahead but plenty of Quads with ElPaco 1 out.
80% all with Guaranteed.

MAXIMAN is quite a story, he only won in NZ at C grade tracks
his claim to fame was the "West Coast Triple Crown", no easy feat but it's a long way from Group 1 glory
what an astute purchase as his Avonnova like improvement is staggering
but I wouldn't get too excited as Victorian form doesn't hold up on the big stage
Bitobliss has proven that time and time again

What a great Kilmore Cup, well done Lloydy, Guaranteed a shade too good. Im Corzin Terror produced his A game today and all but got there. Maximan battled on very well after the early burn. All positives for those going forward

I was hoping for a bit more out of the Quad too - perhaps you crunched it deluxe ??

Granted Bitobliss has disappointed me too at times - but when he's "right" .. he can take your breath away.
Some like grinding staying machines - but for me it's ultra high speed - and that's what he can do when he's comfortable.

Sadly they aren't machines ... and if they were, that would be boring too.
Kilmore looked pretty good today, but nothing will ever match Poppy's feats there though :-)

Bitorbliss has stung me and i was prepared to lay at 1.50
Guy that goes to every trial told me was his special of day and was flying.
Most my Quads where 1-8-8- Then 5 horses and Field Spent $300 got back $1100 I was hoping more but cant be greedy.
Did take a Nice all up for the 3 of them as well.
When i say i took Helicopter home was just Joking im only small Punter.

CAnt hold a Cup during Spring RAcing you need to do it just after and Market while racing is on.
Straight after a Cox plate and Sunday is not a Punting day for many. They all getting out of bed when the cup was on.
Not many people even knew Kilmore Cup was on. Used to have first 2 yr old race so you got there to watch and make an offer for the next Riverlea Jack.
Needs to be on a Sat night with Free Buses from Melton Track and Valley.
I paid $15 to get in $4.50 for a Coke and $6 a Hot Dog.
When i went to Buli it was great Rotary Club did the feed, Sausages, Hamburgers all Cheap and Soft Drink $1

You watch Victoria Cup they will run 8pm again, Its a Must 10pm and start later.

Sounds like you did indeed skim some of that Quad .. but there was $69K to go around.
