Key point is why should bookies on course have to bet to lose a set amount to all comers and those online not?
I don't often give credit to PVL, because he usually doesn't deserve it, but he gets it for this move - September 1 will be fascinating I hope everyone that's been banned are brushing up on their Coffs Harbour form ![]() |

When I tried to have a bet on an 11.00 chance on Grafton Race 1 today with SportsBet, my maximum bet was $10. After a phone call to SportsBet, my maximum bet is now $100.
Good to see SportsBet being a good corporate citizen. |

Bet365 are now betting me to won $1000 on all races at Grafton, but betting me virtually nothing on Wodonga races
Good to see Bet365 being a good corporate citizen. |

Wouldn't it be really amusing if the Corporates found by taking bigger bets they were pushed into betting more like on-course bookies ,held more $$$'s & gained a positive result for themselves .We hear on forums about those punters who get ,knocked back/given ludicrous limits, but what about the many who don't even try given the overflowing negative publicity. The Corporates who had a miserly narrow focus may find Mr V'Landys has done them a good turn !

BJT I posed a question (after witnessing this on both SB and CB) to the complaint email listed on racing NSW website and they directed me to the FAQ's which read
10. What price does a wagering operator have to bet each punter? All punters are entitled to the price displayed in the wagering operator’s latest betting market on their website or betting board. The only time a changed price can be offered after a punter places a bet is if the official APN price had just changed or another bet has been layed at the original price and the wagering operator is adjusting the price, which will flow through to their website or betting board. Time log records can be checked to confirm this process. you have every right to dob them in to the complaint email line |

I just rang them and they were happy to explain it all. Interestingly, they didn't wish to discuss over live chat, I needed to ring them.
After the long in and such, asked about prices between me vs not logged in: Me: I am just doing a comparison of prices for when I am not logged in vs when I am logged in and there seems to be a about 25% difference. Sportingbet: Ummmm, yep, for certain some clients there will be umm a a little bit of differential prices. Me: Why is that? Sportingbet: Umm. We have absolute discretion over the odds and prices we choose to offer. All odds displayed on the website are indicative only until you have logged into your account. The odds offered are those that are displayed after you have logged in and at the time the wager has been confirmed by you. Me: Ok, so wouldn't that be classed as a restriction? Sportingbet: Ahhh yep. Me: Ok, is that not allowed anymore? Sportingbet: We have absolute discretion over which odds and prices we choose to offer still. Me: On a client to client basis? Sportingbet: Yep. Me: Ok, well I will look into that, and probably get back to you. Thanks mate. Sportingbet: No problem. |

Most of them are onto that and have their settings so that you can't get posts up. Tom Waterhouse certainly was after a few posts showing what a goose he is.
Somebody should set up a Bookmaker Australia Name And Shame profile. |

Punters who believe that a wagering operator has refused their bet or excluded them in contravention of the minimum bet limit condition should initially raise the matter with the wagering operator to ascertain the reason for the refusal or exclusion. If they remain unsatisfied with the reason provided by the wagering operator, then they should lodge a formal complaint in writing with Racing NSW (minimumbet@racingnsw.com.au). Racing NSW will then investigate the complaint to assess, on the evidence available, whether the wagering operator appears to have breached the minimum bet limit condition and whether the wagering operator should be referred for prosecution. |

I think its fair to say its going to take a while for the euro based firms to understand that the rules really do apply to them. In the UK they have been getting away with limiting clients for so long its part of their culture.
Just for clarification my understanding is: 1. Accounts cannot be closed. 2. Same prices must be offered to all customers. 3. All bets to lose and min of $1000 (country) and $2000 (metro) 4. Punters must report any bookmaker breaking these rules to RNSW immediately. If the bookmakers don't like the rules don't offer bets on NSW racing. |
|
By:
I have not had a bet today and won't be betting for another week or two as I have been on a break from punting
But if a bookie is setting differential prices when you log in then I would definitely be following the procedure outlined above that will result in prosecution for the bookie if they don't fall into line |

This link is better for explaining the complaints process and has a link to a complaints form. You must make the complaint within 14 days of the incident happening
http://www.racingnsw.com.au/default.aspx?s=article-display&id=16259 3. How to Lodge a Complaint and Process At first instance, punters who believe that a wagering operator has refused their bet or excluded them in contravention of the minimum bet limit condition should contact the wagering operator to ascertain the reason for the refusal or exclusion. If the punter remains unsatisfied with the reason provided by the wagering operator, then they may lodge a formal complaint with Racing NSW by completing and submitting the complaints form found on the Racing NSW website at: https://forms.racingnsw.com.au/forms/minimumbetlimitscomplaint.html. Complaints will only be accepted and investigated following submission of a fully completed complaints form. As part of the complaint, a punter will need to state what action they have taken to contact the wagering operator and the outcome including any reasons given to the punter. The Complaint must be submitted within 14 days of the date of the incident the subject of the complaint. For example, from the date the bet was rejected, the date of the account closure or the rejection of the opening/reopening of an account. Racing NSW will then investigate the complaint to assess, on the evidence available, whether the wagering operator appears to have breached the minimum bet limit condition and whether the wagering operator should be referred to the NSW Government Office of Racing for prosecution. Both the complainant and the wagering operator will be informed of the outcome of the investigation. |

interesting responses - would be careful with the recorded cal BJ unless you told them you were doing it
good luck getting it sorted |

You are allowed to record your own phone conversations and don't need permission from the other party to the conversation. What you cannot do is tap in to the phone conversations to which you are not a party and record those
In any case, nobody should fear the truth |

"Are there rules about recording or monitoring my telephone conversations?" "Yes. Monitoring (listening in to), or recording of telephone conversations, is a matter tightly controlled by law. The federal Telecommunications (Interception) Act 1979 and State and Territory listening devices laws may both apply to this activity. The general rule is that the call may not be recorded. There are exceptions to these rules in very limited circumstances including where a warrant applies" |

don't know if this helps or hinders but
Feb 2014 | Author Stuart Gibson, Gibsons Solicitors So, what is the law regarding the recording of private conversations in Victoria? The answer depends on who is partaking in the “conversation” and what means are being used to record the same. The position is this. One can record a private telephone conversation without the consent of the other party to the conversation provided that the recording is not done through a device installed within the telephone. This could for instance be an interception device. However, it is permissible to record the private conversation via an external recording device such as a dictaphone or even some form of software installed on your computer (see Section 6(1) of The Surveillance Devices Act 1999 (Vic). This is also confirmed in the Commonwealth Act (see Sections 6(1) and & 7(1) of the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth). http://www.gibsonssolicitors.com.au/feb-private-telephone-conversations.php |

sorry for distracting from the main issue - i'll leave that part of it
big test for the new rules today, will be interesting to hear how people go getting on |
|
By:
Don't think anybody has had any trouble getting on, just the prices they are taking. Probably not too many in a position to even have unlogged in prices to compare to to know they are getting rorted.
|
|
By:
Are there any of them doing the right thing or do I avoid them all still?
|
|
By:
prices might their final noose BJT
there must be some law that says the price posted in a shop window cannot be changed once you enter the shop - to the advantage of the shop-owner |
|
By:
They seem to think the line "Prices are indicative only, please log in for correct prices" or words to that effect, is enough to cover them. Would be embarrassing for RacingNSW to simply accept being beaten that easily.
Would love the ability to take these gooses money, but would be just as happy to see them all fcuk off and be put out of business. |
|
By:
surely they will be able to see 2 people logged in with different prices and do something .....spoken to Tracey Grimshaw yet BJT?
cant wait to see the RNSW response |
