James Hardie is a leading international building materials company and a global leader in fibre cement, one of the world's fastest growing building products.

Based on net sales, we believe we are the largest manufacturer of fibre cement products and systems for internal and external building construction applications in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.

Our fibre cement products are used in a number of market segments, including new residential construction, manufactured housing and repair and remodelling and a variety of commercial and industrial applications.

We manufacture numerous types of fibre cement products with a variety of profiles and surface finishes for a range of applications, including external siding, trim and soffit lining, internal linings, facades, tile underlay and flooring.

We employ around 2,500 people and generated net sales of US$1.2 billion in the 2011 financial year.

Famous people to come out of Mackay include Geoff Heugill, Cathy Freeman, and Tony Bennett.

Do you want to start including what day in these cup day threads?  Shouldn't have to research the days races just to find out if it is today or not.

James Hardie may have doubled its profit this financial year, but potential asbestos liabilities continue to cloud its outlook as a rise
in the number of victims surprises the firm.

The building products manufacturer, shrouded in controversy over earlier attempts to escape from or minimise asbestos liabilities, recorded an annual net profit of $US99.5 million for the year to March 31, more than double last year's.

Srikandi ran last Saturday.  Running today.  If she is to make the Stradbroke field for 2 weeks time, she needs to win the QLD Guineas next Saturday.  Todays race is meaningless in the scheme of things, and will mean she needs to run 4 weeks in a row.

I rated her last win fairly comparable with Havana, maybe a length or 2 behind, but an easy win so probably not too far out of the mix for next week.

So why run today?

Sorry, I'll put the date in future, however Mackay Amateur Cup Day is generally a well known event on the calendar.

yes BJ seems a strange prep to the Straddie .. i'm having difficulty understanding the move but maher explains his reasoning here

http://www.horseracing.com.au/news/stradbroke-bound-srikandi-needs-to-win-glenlogan-park-stakes/

Caulfield trainer Ciaron Maher wants to run Srikandi in the Group 1 $1.36m AAMI Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 7 but admits that the lightly raced filly will have to score another dominant win against the fillies and mares again this week.

“If we’re going to go to the Stradbroke and be a chance to win that, she would need to win again tomorrow,” Maher told Racing Network.

“And if she doesn’t, it simply means she’s not good enough.”

Maher considered last week’s win no more than a trackwork session and has no problems about backing up his star filly week to week.

“She was just cantering last week, she would have done more work on the Tuesday on the track than she did in the race on Saturday,” Maher said.

Maher said he wouldn’t normally back his horses up week to week but believes Srikandi is tough enough to cope with it after the three year old was given plenty of time to mature as a two year old.

“The fact we have given her plenty of time is now paying dividends,” Maher said.

“Because we have been so patient now that she is getting close to four, we can give her an extra run or two that you normally wouldn’t do.”

Absolutely vital that she progresses from just 1200 m distances (last 3 runs).....no way ever that a step up from 1200 to the Stadbroke 1400 m without either a 1400m or 1350m in the preparation  to help with the extra 200m in Stradbroke.

Todays run is not about winning ...its about running (winning is just a side salad)

A 1400 m run would be preferred ...a fast run 1350 is second best.......

Its about  training for 1400 m races

Yeah Thebas, but I certainly wouldn't agree.  Missing this week would still be 3 runs in 4 weeks for the Straddy.
