"Jumps jockey Paul Hamblin has been charged by Racing Victoria stewards following an investigation into betting activity. .......The jockey has been charged with breaching AR 83(c) which states that 'every jockey or apprentice may be penalised if they bet.'

Hamblin is believed to have placed a number of bets on thoroughbred horse races during April this year.............His licence to ride has been suspended pending a hearing of the charge by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board,"

Apparently bets total $650.00 ish

victoria does not have to give the mandatory two years set down by the ARB apparently, he will more than likely get a fine or something and that's all he should get as well, this rule wasn't brought in to stop this harmless sort of stuff it was bought in to stop the d oliver type bet.

such a stupid rule, imo, not to allow jockeys to bet on their own horses as i've known 100s of jockeys and i can think of only one or two who didn't bet though they didn't need to because they rode all the winners anyway!

i believe NZ are just about to make it against the Rules of Racing for their jockeys to bet on their own mounts, too

i think in italy they are still allowed to bet, they certainly used to be

Happy I would hardly think that Italy would be a country that you would choose to follow on any integrity issue.

HRV have used his participance as a promotional tool in their efforts to enhance Monte races. How bad are they going!!

They were most likely hoping he could increase turnover.

Av. Bet $10. Recriational not criminal ???.....  Stewards should focus more on illegal substances from big stables.  This is big brother stuff.
