Biggest mistake getting rid of Betts since Ian Stewart left saints to join Richmond.  Kernahan's leadership must be under the microscope at the end of the footy season.  Don't think he's got a clue at the top.

Monday Mike,

Betts is no Loss Trust me.
He a Non Performer in Big Games.
My Last 3 year Reviews i have done if only Stick had listned.
Imagine a Forward line with Fev, Kennedy, Waite
keep making same mistake year after year, Give the Coach away with out having to apply.
No we in more trouble than Saints
List is aging, Kids are not up to AFL Standard.
To may Soft players it been 19 years since last flag could go on 10 years before we make finals again unless something is done now.
Need a Coach that can develop young players, clean out the players that are aging and get something for them while can. Bottom out and rebuild with Kids. GWS and GWS will dominate next 5 years
Report Lets Elope March 30, 2014 2:43 PM BST
Dumping betts was the best thing they've done in ages. Give it up lloydy you wanted Judd and you got him we got Kennedy, it was a win win. I only wish we traded kerr at the same time as I said at the time signing him on a four year contract was insanity and they got got one not quite full good season out of him during that time, should have let him go and play with his mate juddy when he wanted to and we would have been a lot better off in the long term. Love kerr but if you don't want to be at the eagles then we don't want you.
Report Lets Elope March 30, 2014 2:52 PM BST
lloydy Mick rebuilt the pies from scratch and he took a talentless team to two GF's against the lions. Two good pick up this year in Thomas and Everitt, if mick continues to do that which he normally does and pick up two or three experienced players to fill holes each season and you actually have some decent drafting you will be in good shape sooner than what you think. You should let Gibbs go and exact a kings ransom from adelaide for him, he's not going to take you anywhere, MIA again the other night and kicked one goal out of his arrse Malthouse is a mile better coach now than he was at the eagles where he underachieved with that team but what he did at the pies was staggering, like I said those two collingwood teams that he got into a GF's against he lions were hacks but they played as a team. Then he created an almost irresitible force basically from scratch, which Buckley has systematically dismantled.

Lets i NEVER wanted Judd he is to Square for Carlton. You have to have the CNT in you to be a Carlton.
Brang that Square culture to Melb and they all become Soft.
9 Players. YES 9 players and High end Picks for Warnock, McClean and Judd. What a Waist.
Was Building a Powerful list then fcked it all up trying to fill Gaps
Your Man Rowe is not to AFL Standard, Id rather Cashbolt at least he has a real hard go, even though cant kick.
Walker like i have said last 3 years should of been traded while we can get something
Menzal Shows Prommise
Murphy Honest player no Champion
Gibbs, Id rather Ryan Hullihan. TRADE for something. ry and get a Gun from GWS
Judd On last year
Simpson Trade
Buckly, needs time but has a Crack, Has Blue Blood in him
Kreuzer, Somebody please punch the siht out of him, he needs to be woken and told he can play AFL
Lucas, More he plays more people get Injured with his Great Hospital kicks
Watson Poor kid, star in Junior just not his fault he cant play
Warnock, Ill give him a tick but taken 8 years to get on the park
Robinson. Close your Eyes as every kick will just come straight back
Yarren Our Most Skill full player, just dont know if he wants to be at Carlton at times

Docherty Waiting to see as Wraps are Huge
Cripps, Prommising looking type Let him loose its time to play the Kids
Rowe, Not in my top 30

Bootsma Whipping boy, just play him every game so kid can learn, for as skinny as he is does have a crack, is asked to perorm big man roles. Play him every game see how is

Waite Best Marker, kicking and Injuries have let him down. Needs to break out and kick a Bag
Graham looked a Flassy type.
Everitt cant judge yet, looks a bit slow to react bit like Bowyer a couple of years ago
Curnow Shocking kick
Gartlett Better than Betts, goes missing but a needed player
Thomas What i seen against Rich he is getting warm, just hope he can stand up, Might be captain next year
Jamison Great Backman is a worry when has the ball kicking under pressure, but what he stops in Goals makes up for it, never gets beat

Without judd your club would have disappeared down the gurgler, recruiting him has saved your club but at the time I categorically stated that you would not win a premiership while he was there as he didn' have the necessary support cast and surprise, surprise they haven't and won't.
Agree about casboult liked the look of him, doughty will help why are they holding cripps back even if you use him as a sub, everitt a valuable pick up, buckley like the look of him, Bootsma desperately needs game time ditto Watson and Bell how they kept Warnock and let Hampson go is beyond me but then again your geniuses let jacobs go. robinson next to useless unless he's forced to work day and night on his disposal otherwise he shouldn't be played, your kidding if you're relying on Waite massively injury prone put himself first ahead of the club  and is 30 plus definitely plays but relying on him to deliver is another thing entirely, trade simpson who in their right mind is going to take him at 29 and give up anything in return??? You trade all those sort of players or delist them and you'll end up like Melbourne. Kreuzer when fit and healthy must play in the ruck and occasionally rest forward but he must play in the ruck. How on earth did laidler not get played then delisted last year 190 cm experienced strong backman and just 24???. Totally bizarre.

Waoit for Judd and Carrazzo back and then bleed them in to learn off them.
Crips and Bootsma dominated VFL today.
Bootsma body is not ready yet but should be played every game.
Im pretty sure you have said Watson is good, he isnt.

Also Gold Coast have no hope to get supporters, Just came back and went to GC vs Bris Gen Admin SOLD OUT Ticket in $50 thinking its going to be full 16000 people and ground empty for a Bris Clash.
Ill be writing a big letter to AFL about this one. $50 to watch a game that was empty and have Sold Out on Gen Admin, taking the Piss out of me.
Need to open gates now to get Crowds in to follow AFL there so dont lose them.
Charge a decent price.
Aslo so many staff on, but ask them where the Bus stops, i asked 4 people maning the Bus stops and none could tell me what Bus to catch back.

And right now a feted football coach probably knows how they feel. The following is what Mick Malthouse told Carlton supporters less than 14 months ago in a program for the Blues' second intra-club practice match under his command:
"'I want a healthy side, a good game plan and an attitude of 'we are hungry enough'. Take those ingredients, along with the stars and planets aligning, and we may very well have the makings of a premiership side."
Yep, that's the Blues he's talking about. The same side which now sits 15th 0-3 and on Sunday night at the MCG was humiliated to the tune of 81 points against a bitter rival, looking barely competitive from the first moments.
To put it in context, that's Carlton's worst losing margin for nearly seven years. It's been 142 games since the Blues were beaten by more – round 21 2007 against North Melbourne – to be precise, just weeks after they'd dispensed with their last so-called coaching saviour Denis Pagan.
This latest search for a coaching messiah hasn't yet reached the depths the Blues did in the early to mid-2000s, but it sure isn't going to plan. So much so that even a coach as confident in his methods as Malthouse continues to be taken aback by how things are working out.
Certainly, the extent to which he has changed his tune since those comments about potential flags has been remarkable.
Malthouse recently met the Carlton board and reportedly told them the list wasn't nearly good enough, that a top-four team needed eight A-grade players, but the Blues had five (not including Chris Judd, who he felt was too near the end to factor into a discussion about the longer-term future) and few B-graders capable of making the jump to the next bracket.
To be brutally frank, can Carlton even claim to have five A-graders right now? Skipper Marc Murphy at his best, sure; but then who? Even Lachie Henderson, as valuable as he's been at either end of the ground, hasn't yet earned an All-Australian nomination.
The gameplan is a big issue. It's stodgy, the Blues having seemingly forsaken much of their flair for what was supposed to be more dependability. Change it? Well, Malthouse says he already has. Midway through last season, in fact.
After another big win in round 10 of 2013 against GWS, Carlton's sixth from seven games, Malthouse said: "We've started to cut off bits and pieces that I had, and cut off bits and pieces that I perhaps didn't like ... and what's happened is that we've got a game structure that [now] meets the criteria. And as long as we don't stray from it now we can be a good football side."
It goes without saying if the Blues have strayed from it, the message isn't getting through.
But if they haven't? Well, since that moment, Carlton has won just six of 17 games, a strike rate of 35 per cent.
We continue to ask: has Carlton improved under Malthouse? And few now could realistically argue that the answer is yes. Certainly not in the most tangible ways.
Under Brett Ratten in 2012, Carlton scored an average 94.5 points a game. Under Malthouse last year, that went up by just two points, and after three games this season the average is 76.6. But was defence supposed to be the biggest improvement? The figures there are even starker.
In 2012 under Ratten, the Blues conceded 87.5 points a game. Last year, that crept up to 90.5 a game. And right now, after Sunday night's belting, they're conceding 118.7, the second-worst defensive record in the competition.
Carlton's free kick into last year's finals then its stunning elimination final win over Richmond has proved a potentially damaging mirage. This list patently isn't good enough.
But if Malthouse is now committed to rebuilding, why haven't the younger players on the list been played more?
Dylan Buckley, Troy Menzel, Nick Graham have all shown plenty of ability. Buckley is now in his third season with the Blues, and the other two their second. But all up the trio has played just 15 games.
You can't continue to talk about talent coming through without being prepared to actually have it out on the park and see what difference it makes. Carlton has been doing that for some time now, even before Malthouse's arrival. And that's another area in which little seems to have changed since.
Mixed messages have been the recurring theme over the past 18 months: in recruiting, at selection, and in the brand of football the Blues have been playing. Does Carlton itself even know just where it is at?
Sunday night's belting may have helped provide an answer. But it leads to an even more problematic question. Is the coach Carlton picked to take it the next step up the ladder still the same man it wants to oversee another climb from closer to the bottom? Because that, clearly, isn't the job Malthouse was hired to do.

100% gardenstar. As far away from a premiership as they have been at any point. As a fan, there s nothing to look forward to. The sanctions imposed way back when are still in effect. All those years as the comp whipping boy have instilled that exact fear you refer to, too scared to do what needs to be done and start from scratch. Impossible situation really, football is a business, starting again and getting flogged every week will not be good for business. At least being somewhat competitive ensures people through the gates and the business ticks over, but that performance had no competitive side to it whatsoever. Only one choice to make now, just hope they have the guts to make it.

But the coach is the reason why the Freo players have improved. What were the likes of Walters, Johnson, Clarke, Crowley, De Boer etc doing before Lyon came along. ORMER Carlton ace Brendan Fevola has taken aim at his old club, criticising the decision to recruit Dale Thomas.

Writing a column for Wodonga’s The Border Mail, Fevola said Carlton’s decision to part company with “fan favourite” Eddie Betts had cost the club on and off the field.

He also wrote that the Blues “might have won a flag” if West Coast Eagles full-forward Josh Kennedy was still at the club.

“Carlton wouldn’t pay him (Betts) the money he wanted, so he went to Adelaide where he could get it,” Fevola said.

“If the Blues didn’t have the money, then fair enough, let him go.

“But they went out and spent $700,000-a-year for four years on Dale Thomas.

“He may take the occasional specky and get his 15 touches but so what?

“He won’t win you a game off his own boot.”

DO YOU AGREE WITH FEV? HAVE YOUR SAY BELOW

Fevola suggests Carlton lost in the deal that brought Brownlow medallist and former captain Chris Judd to Visy Park.

The Blues parted with key Kennedy to snare the silky midfielder set to make his return from an Achilles complaint on Sunday.

“Juddy has been an absolute superstar but, looking back on it, who won that deal ... it’s tough,” Fevola said.

“Josh Kennedy is now a superstar of the competition at West Coast and right now probably more valuable than Juddy is.

“Who knows? The Blues might have won a flag if he was still there.”

Fevola was sacked by Carlton after his drunken antics at the 2009 Brownlow gala, the final chapter in a series of off-field incidents.

Brisbane recruited the star full forward on a big-money deal only to let him go 17 games later following further off-field breaches.

Fevola said Carlton’s winless start to its 150th anniversary was “embarrassing”, while outgoing president Stephen Kernahan, probably the club’s greatest player, was meant to be six-month appointment when Richard Pratt was sick.

“There were high hopes when Mick Malthouse came to the club and beat Richmond in the finals ... but now there’s nothing for the fans to cheer about,” Fevola said.

“Losing to Melbourne last Saturday might just be the darkest day Carlton has had in a decade.”

Scotland was one of the reasons they won today, kicked a couple of absolutely crucial goals. Feel a bit sorry for Heath, came to the blues to get away from Mick who had a real snout on him at the Pies and now has to cop him again. Did you notice the up yours in the direction of the coaches boxes after he kicked that crucial final quarter goal.
Report Lloydy Trots Man April 20, 2014 11:54 AM BST
Wrong again Lets
Mick tried at all cost to keep Scotland.
But Pies at time had to many players that same type.
Its was either Scotland or Buckley.
Scotland wanted to play AFL and if stayed Pies would of been in and out.
Has been sensational at Carlton and has the CNT in him

Mick was always hard on him at the pies and has done the same since he's been at carlton am tipping scotland can't stand him. Don't worry spoon lloydy is hilarious and a walking contradiction when it comes to Carlton. Pretty fair judge at the trots though from what I've seen.

Report bigted. April 20, 2014 1:06 PM BST
good piont ,how's this from fev....
Appearing to still be bitter at his former club, Brendan Fevola has criticised Carlton for recruiting Dale Thomas, losing Eddie Betts and has even questioned the value of the Chris Judd trade.

As Judd prepares to return from an Achilles injury for Sunday's crunch game against the Western Bulldogs, Fevola, sacked by the Blues after the 2009 season because of his drunken behaviour at the Brownlow Medal count, suggested key forward Josh Kennedy should not have been included in the blockbuster trade with the West Coast Eagles after the 2007 season.

In a column in Wodonga's The Border Mail, Fevola, who regularly found off-field trouble and was given several reprieves, wrote: "What about the Chris Judd trade? Juddy has been an absolute superstar but, looking back on it, who won that deal? It’s tough.

"Josh Kennedy is now a superstar of the competition at West Coast and right now probably more valuable than Juddy is. Who knows? The Blues might have won a flag if he was still there."

What the Blues privately pointed out on Saturday was that Fevola prospered from the deal, booting 99 goals in 2008 and 89 a season later, due largely to Judd's presence and delivery from the midfield.

The Eagles had initially wanted Fevola as part of the trade, but took Kennedy and the Blues' picks three (Chris Masten) and 20 (Tony Notte).

Fevola said one reason why the "wheels have well and truly fallen off" the winless Blues this season was the decision to not match Adelaide's offer last year for small forward Betts.

"Carlton wouldn’t pay him the money he wanted, so he went to Adelaide where he could get it. Eddie was a fan favourite and popular at the club," he said. "If the Blues didn’t have the money, then fair enough, let him go. But they went out and spent $700,000 a year for four years on Dale Thomas. He may take the occasional speccy and get his 15 touches, but so what? He won’t win you a game off his own boot."

Fevola, who topped the Blues' goalkicking seven times and was later also sacked by the Brisbane Lions because of off-field trouble, also thinks free agent Bryce Gibbs will leave the club. He said "you can tell Gibbs is thinking about it" - heading home to join the Adelaide Crows.

"Big Sammy Jacobs is his best mate and that is a big thing in the Crows' favour. Eddie Betts is there now, too. But the biggest thing is his family. That's the biggest lure of all. I can't see him staying."

Meanwhile, Gibbs will have a key role to play as the Blues seek to reinvigorate their season against the Bulldogs - the moniker the Blues had in the 1870s - at Etihad Stadium.

That Judd is returning for his first match of the season will ensure greater midfield drive, although coach Mick Malthouse said it would be "sad" if the Blues looked to the veteran midfielder to solely revive their campaign.

Malthouse has made it clear for several years he thinks the Blues have relied too much on Judd for on-field inspiration.

"Chris has been out there for over a month doing some form of training. If we have to rely on one bloke, it's a sad case. That's not the case," he said on Saturday.

Judd trained lightly for 45 minutes on Saturday morning at Visy Park, spending most of his time away from the main group, completing ball work with Andrew Carrazzo and Kade Simpson.

The Blues have endured a tumultuous week following the stinging loss to Melbourne, with on-field issues and boardroom machinations dominating the headlines.

While supporters are desperate for a win, Malthouse has urged his men to focus on "technique".

"I think the most important thing for us to focus in on is how hard we have to work to get into a position to win, not about winning," he said. "The massive difference is, if you focus in on what everyone is screaming for, then you forget the technique. The technique has got to be consistent and persistence about playing an opposition that is a very dogged, a dogged side in one manner but a highly skilled side in another."

Seriously who gives a hoot about what Fevola writes and the publication is wait for it ... the Wodonga Mail.
Wow!!!
As for the Eagles wanting him, he must have been sniffing some good stuff at the time or off on another pf his many benders, because I can assure you the eagles didn't have the slightest interest in getting another farkwit like fevola with the problems they were already experiencing.
Give me strength, Fevola wouldn't have been allowed the through the door at the Eagles.

The thing is its going to get worse.
The only thing that will hide it is next 5 years a lot of teams will be weakened from GWS and GC.
Just been in USA and Mexico for 3 weeks.
We need to Recruit the NBA rejects for Ruck and CHF.
Just to Muscle and Run.
Emagine a 6`11 in the Ruck that can run and Jump.
Just need to teach how to hand ball and Tap ruck.
If they dont make NBA they end up working 7/11
