Alan Jones is a good man even if you disagree with his politics. Also coached the Wallabies to their only Grand Slam success plus a Bledisloe series win in NZ.

i think we must have different definitions of "good" - not that i doubt he does some good now and then when he isn't sprouting hate and bile

You've got no idea.
Here's an article from one of your fellow lefties that might enlighten you a bit. Jonesy does more for people in one week than most of us do in a lifetime. http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/society-and-culture/beneath-the-shell-jones-is-a-softie-20121006-275x7.html Sprouting hate and bile. Spare me. |

just one example
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/jones-apologises-over-lebanese-comments/story-e6freuy9-1226540135857 ALAN Jones' ongoing racial vilification of Lebanese Muslims culminated in the Cronulla riots, which could have been avoided if he had apologised eight years ago, community leader Keysar Trad says. The controversial broadcaster on Wednesday apologised on air for saying in April 2005 Lebanese men were "vermin'' and "mongrels'' who "simply rape, pillage and plunder a nation that's taken them in''. The Administrative Decisions Tribunal (ADT) had ordered Jones to apologise on his 2GB radio show any day this week. Jones said his comments breached the Anti-Discrimination Act and the tribunal had found they "incited serious contempt of Lebanese males including Lebanese Muslims''. "I apologise for making those comments and I recognise they were unlawful and I also apologise on behalf of Radio 2GB,'' he said. |

He insulted some Lebanese Muslims? I couldn't care less.
He is currently locked in battle with Coal Seam Gas monsters, the Liberal government that is happy to give away all NSW farming land to these monsters, while in his private life helping a multitude of desperate individuals.Your prejudices and prejudgements and stereotyping,so typical of the ABC and lefties in general is ill informed,to say the least. |

another - more recent
http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-opinion/the-whole-towns-disgusted-with-the-jones-ploy-20120930-26tt1.html Every time you think the 2GB broadcaster Alan Jones has gone as low as he can go, he sets a new benchmark ever deeper in his now obviously bottomless barrel. Not enough that he has already talked of putting the Prime Minister ''into a chaff bag and hoisting her into the Tasman Sea,'' or that he has said that the country needs to ''bring back the guillotine,'' to deal with her, and that across the country ''women are wrecking the joint''. Now, before an audience of Sydney University Young Liberals last weekend at the Watermark Restaurant at Balmoral he has referred to the grieving PM's late father, John Gillard - a man who was obviously very close to, and extremely proud of, his daughter - and said that he ''died a few weeks ago of shame''. |
|
By:
Who cares? Really?
I know the man personally and can assure you he is absolutely tireless, indefatigable, relentless in his efforts to help people every single day. Despite having cancer. What have you ever done? Dropped your change into the Salvos bucket at the races. |

Top bloke.
|
|
By:
He didn't mean ALL Lebanese. Obviously. Just some poorly behaved ones. You have noticed some of those I expect? Maybe not in your case.
|
|
By:
He didn't say that to a national audience. Was a private function. And who gives a fckk anyway? I couldn't care less. I hated Gillard. Would hit her with a baseball bat if I thought no one was watching.
I notice you haven't said anything about his massive work helping others. What a surprise. At least Womble had the decency to acknowledge that. He's got some class. |

Classy lol.... hit her with a BASEBALL BAT.

You're right. A cricket bat would be more classy!

Good on you for sticking up for him anyway.
I've tempered my dislike for him somewhat, seeing that you are so passionate in your defence of him. |

It was pretty bad. Not to worry. It's late. Maybe no one else will notice. Anyway Forum Comrade I gotta go now. I've tried to point out that AJ,whatever his politics does a sh1tload for people out there,is not the monster the ABC would have you believe (the left love a baddie, think 1984 and Goldstein) and am kicking myself for getting involved in the sh1ttest thread on the forum.

What was i thinking?
Ok i'll demote him to only the 2nd biggest A-Hole on radio in this country behind Hadley. It is not impressive at all that one of the richest men in the country would help a few people to make himself feel good. As i said earlier, it is pi ss easy to do those things if you have money and power and friends in high places. Maybe if he gave all his money away and went to live in a council flat, and then still devoted his life to helping others..... then that would be impressive. He is an out and out a-hole for deliberately fanning the flames of hatred and bigotry on the Muslim community as a whole and the way he spoke about Julia. Ahh i feel much better now. |
