As I said elsewhere you need rocks in your head to take $1.30 about any horse having their first start in wet conditions, let alone another country as well.

If it's dry I'll be jumping on along with everyone else.  If it's wet stay right away.  At $1.30 you can't afford to have any queries or doubts.
Report Lets Elope June 21, 2012 9:56 AM BST
luke didnt have any  queries reckons she goes just as well if not better when interviewed by Bruce clarke yesterday
Report Khan321 June 21, 2012 10:29 AM BST
That is completely standard.  All trainers, especially of favourites, are optimistic about everything before the race.  She would be awesome running backwards or underwater, anything you can think of.  It's just they way they are.

Afterwards, if she gets beat, then things come out.
Report Khan321 June 21, 2012 10:30 AM BST
And jockeys too, obviously.  Nobody admits to weakness unless it's completely undeniable.
Report Lets Elope June 21, 2012 10:39 AM BST
He said she trialled on a bottomless one day at Cranbourne and handled it beautifully and he said she has worked on very heavy tracks at Caulfield and again had no issue with it whatsoever, they're sprinters are walkers and the best local Bated Breath hates it.

like on form is this race a bit like the BTC cup, newmarket etc or harder?

That is one ugly f*cking dog in your little pic there LIH. Do you have the misfortune and SHAME of owning that little booger?
Report Live_in_Hope June 21, 2012 11:49 AM BST
yes  - the other has just had surgery
Report The_KAMIKAZEE_DRINKING_MACHINE June 21, 2012 11:57 AM BST
If the other one is as ugly as this one I wouldn't bother with the surgery. Unless it was plastic surgery to improve it's appearance.

did you know that youre 14% more likely to die on your birthday than any other day/
Report The_KAMIKAZEE_DRINKING_MACHINE June 21, 2012 12:25 PM BST
14%?? Sounds high. You don't currently have a loaded pistol in your mouth do ya LIH??

Anyway happy 63rd birthday. Don't become a burden on your children.
Report Live_in_Hope June 21, 2012 12:27 PM BST
no where 63

but think about it - i explained it to my daughter as were out getting a birthday takeaway - if we had a smash and i was killed it would be because of my birthday - or if i choked to death on a bone in the fish, it would be due to my birthday. and thats not even thinking about the birthday blues where people become depressed on their birthdays becasue no one gives a ****

Just sayin'. It's gotta be better than a fishbone.

thanks thebas - but its the 6 weeks before and after a birthday when great happiness or extreme sorrow can happen
Report Live_in_Hope June 21, 2012 12:37 PM BST
thats very true DA - celebrating a birthday to extreme can have sever consequences
Report The_KAMIKAZEE_DRINKING_MACHINE June 21, 2012 12:49 PM BST
Just do what I do. I don't acknowledge my own birthday. I mean, who cares? Birthdays are for kids. After 12 there's 21 then so what? My mother in law,who is at least 174 years old demands a huge fuss and expensive presents be bought for her frequent and endless birthdays. I can't stand it. Who cares about some old bag's birthday. FFS just DIE you old BITCH. No one likes you. No one gives a F*CK about your 174th birthday.

Report The_KAMIKAZEE_DRINKING_MACHINE June 21, 2012 1:01 PM BST
Of course not. Do you think I would speak about a lovely old lady like that if she had a house?
Report ilikewavingatbuses June 21, 2012 1:05 PM BST
bated breath was the uks best chance of beating her seemingly but connections are running in a diff race now, prob wisely as unless she underperforms (which is possible) they cant beat her.

i personally hope she obliterates the field winning by a cosy 6L, that would be incred.
Report Live_in_Hope June 21, 2012 1:07 PM BST
are you 'over there'?
is it raining yet at ascot?
Report Melbourne_Punter June 21, 2012 1:10 PM BST
It hasnt stopped raining since the early hours of this morning!
Report educeee June 21, 2012 2:01 PM BST
it's a myth about her not handling the wet, the breed gets through it

she's won just as good on a heavy 10 in a trial, I know it was a trial but still, it didn't hamper her at all

people are clutching at straws here

she will bolt up and please Luke, LET HER GO.
Report ilikewavingatbuses June 21, 2012 2:51 PM BST
im in ireland but yes its raining at the mo there, nothing too bad, good to soft at the mo. i dont think ground will be too much of a prob tbh, in fact i find big horses go thru the mud better than smaller ones. i know it doesnt always work that way, pedigrees etc but moody says shes fine in it so..
Report muncha. June 21, 2012 5:49 PM BST
Been raining on and off here today, ground looks pretty wet on the round course, but much better on the straight.
Forecast isnt great for tomorrow, but Ascot seems to drain pretty well so shouldnt be bottomless.
Report Thebas June 21, 2012 9:46 PM BST
cheers mucnha & buses for the updates

if it rains right up to the race it will be dissapointing naturally

but ascot has looked absolutely terrific so far and hopefully the straight course still bears up well

Have you guys had a serious look at the field, Nolan will need to fire retro rockets at the finish to hold her back to a 6length margin.
Report muncha. June 22, 2012 9:03 AM BST
Bit more rain this morning, isn't overly heavy (I'm in London, so may be slightly different in Ascot). Hearing there has been 4mm on the course overnight and they now rate it slow. Bit of wind blowing and the rain supposed to stop later this afternoon - clear day forecast tomorrow.
Fingers crossed that is the case.
Report muncha. June 22, 2012 10:33 PM BST
Dunno whether anyone is still following this thread but there was no rain at all today and a very healthy breeze blowing. Straight course an hour ago was rated good to soft and with the breeze still up and no more rain it will be pretty close to good come race time tomorrow.
Report Thebas June 22, 2012 10:36 PM BST

No problems at all.
Final update before I head to the track and watch the mighty mare.
Woke up this morning to some sunshine and the breeze still up.
No upgrade as yet, think he track manager is waiting till later this morning before deciding.
With the way the weather is today (think typical Melbourne spring) I think the will be equivalent to dead back home.
