I think this is a fair summing up - particularly the last piece. No idea why you would insist on excluding PNV from the contributors list though - he didn't find the solution either - and hasn't in his current employ, IMHO. |

Tough Gig as they want MONEY people not the average Joes that go and spend money there week in week out. What incentive do they have to become a member? Not even Cheap drinks.
Plus they would sack me as id have Hot Models going around every week giving out a couple of Betting Vouchers and Drink Vouchers every now and then. Then id get called Sexist so id have to hire a Couple of Muscle Men, but make sure they are Gay so the Bloke s dont start fighting when they thing the Topples Muscle Men are Hitting on their Misses. Food they serve is not up to the Standard that will attract Big money spending people. Be a Tough Gig and poor money and about 60-80 hours a week. Im on 9-5 65k a year and can make Bonus 25k a qtr pretty easy as well. Im very happy not in Hospitality now. So no need to go backwards and work my assssss off and no rewards. OR Give me a 1 month Contract, just before Summer and Spring Carnival Gig and pay me 20k, a list of all the Punters in Australia i have on my Phone is worth that much and im talking guys that have never been to the Trots before but will have 100k on 1 single card flip. Have a Restaurant that Sells A grade Food and Wine. Id fill the Joint every Sat night with the Average Joes to the High Rolling Harrys. The Average Joes are the ones id be marketing they spend money week in week out. Others want it free or 1 staff to look after them. |

Your seasonal suggestion is not so wild in this day and age - more the way of the world actually. They could do so much worse then hire you for a month - call it your annual holidays from regular employ ? It's easy from the sidelines :-) Cheers. |

LLYODY has worked for the best in the HOSPITALITY.. the late KERRY PACKER loved him... llyody when he was in charge in the mahoganys /rooms he was in charge of looking after the brokes to billionares.. hes done it all met doctors/lawyers/ horse trainers /footballers/ cricketers /soccer/tennis/gangsters/ movie stars/ etc and they all know him on first name basis |

Doesn't matter what anyone does you won't get people to the trots anymore except on the big days. Even those are dwindling. The big meetings of today were an average night 20 years ago. I can see the day quite soon when there will be a track or tracks that are built solely for TV. By default that is most harness tracks now but the TV lottery rolls on. |

As reported by Solvalla and Trotman earlier..those that use Harness Racing to make a quick buck at the expense of the sport... have forced nearly all that loved it to move on.
