how does bf know .. when you put a bet down .. that you are trading ?
By:
just got a call....can't trade om NSW.
Thebas you can still back or lay....just not both on the same horse....NSW only |
By:
I'm just about to get a return call...this does seem confusing already. Can I bet that horse to win more than once? what happens if I try and lay it. ahhhh
By:
cheers whoopi
and wow ... yep the US is looking better by the minute now .. are BF gonna take us back to an honest 5% on NON-nsw races ... instead of 6.5% when some of us DON'T want to bet on the weak nsw racing product that pvl presents to the public .. under the guise of legitamately contested tru horse racing rather than the jock pace cartel they regularly serve up |
By:
I suppose once and for all we'll be able to see exactly what a non-trading exchange looks like...for all you out there who dislike traders.
By:
Might be a barren wasteland Josh.
By:
agree. Was trying to work out in a Black Caviar example of $1m matched, what % of that is true bets. It will be very interesting. I'm saddened, but perhaps this is something that needs to happen.
By:
see they are now offering top fluc. so can you lay on exchange and back on top fluc?
By:
OK I'm a bit confused. Just received the call. On one hand it seems to apply to 'select' customers...basically they don't want me to have a 'risk free' position on NSW racing.
By:
Probably won't be long till it applies everywhere as everywhere else will want the same deal as NSW.
By:
yes jonk .. you would imagine eventually that will be the case in oz
and if 5% went to 6.5% .. just to fix the nsw extra requirements then is it 8% after vic ... 9.5% after sth oz ... 11% after west oz etc ? |
By:
and although I'm not one for a fight normally, we come back to the question of why Betfair didn't pull the pin on NSW to at least demonstrate the impact.
By:
Gut instinct says the BF 'bean counters' have been monitoring since the new rules and have quickly realized the new format makes it Nonviable.
Won't be long now. Queen Liz awarded BF an award for Innovation yonks ago, since then its gone public(UK) and has decided that shareholders need to be fed, at the expense of it's customers. One theme is common, many of us who have used BF since it's Aust inception are shaking our heads. |
By:
Which makes the 6.5% increase odd, because the historical data is available to indicate it won't be enough.
By:
i just backed one then laid it??
By:
you can do it dos, but you'll get a call if it's a problem for them. That's how I'm seeing it.
By:
I'm on 3.5% so I'm guessing it's gunna be a problem
By:
dos if you diddn't get a call i don't think you have to worry.
By:
roger that
By:
You get a call ???????????????????? WTF Its an exchange, where's the official announcemeny, Bizarre!!!!
By:
Whoopi mail lol
By:
my call informed me that if I continued to trade on nsw my account would be cancelled, have no problem but I believe it should be in the betfair rules not a "we'll cancel you account" phone call
By:
hmm I didn't get the cancel threaten but it was probably subliminal! It sounds like a few of us impacted here, and quite a few wouldn't use the forum.
The other question I have is with a straight out bet. On my commission rate in theory I shouldn't back a horse under 1.33 or it's a loss to them. Seeking clarification. |
By:
CURIOUSER AND CURIOSER!!
the obvious response has always been and remains to pull the pin on NSW. The other states , will be happy to cop something rather than nothing. seems really really simple, WTF am I missing?? |
By:
Been playing phone tag with the Betfair rep all day. Presume it's the same call. The end is near.
By:
Ordinarily what cjd is saying would defy belief, unfortunately not when it comes to Betfair.
By:
The call didn't start with the threat it was when I stated that I believed they should change the official rules for betting on nsw not just ring people and ask them to stop and I asked what happens if you didn't stop trading thats when the reply was your account would be cancelled.
I've been working on betfair for over 10 years and while I read the forum this is my first post, I'm absolutely disgusted at the sheer lack of concern for their customers shown here. |
By:
CJD
They have ZERO regard for their customers, and the sad fact is they don't need to because although there will be plenty of threats, no one is going anywhere. For anyone who this actually affects, i'd suggest writing to them seeking a written explanation clarifying the rules for betting in NSW markets. |
By:
looks like Peter V got his wish
![]() |
By:
Spot on DT. Zero regard indeed.
Womble, in the short term he has, whether or not he has in the long term, we can only wait and see. |
By:
Could one of the traders who received a phone call, clarify the date it will take effect.
By:
good to hear from you cjd but very disappointing under the circumstances.
I really think you are right Barney. Castiron - immediately |
By:
Effective immediately Castrion.
By:
Thanks, Josh.
Has anyone noticed any effect on todays meeting ? The rise to 6.5%, had little impact on liquidity, in the markets, I operate on. |
By:
hey all, do you guys do any trading in early markets or strictly bf pre race/in-running can't believe they are going down this road.
By:
looks like they finally woke up the 6.5% by itself would not work.
By:
can you lay off in-running??
By:
I would suggest not Womble. They just don't want you being all green.
