No question?Think you'll find there are plenty of questions out there wombleoz. You just don't want to hear it. Too busy fantasising about this great big new tax on everything. Wombleoz loves tax. Any excuse will do. The battlers cop an almighty kick in the teeth, whilst wombleoz continues to sip lattes on Toorak Road.......easy for some. This is a sham. And it's being exposed more and more, day by day. |

The Carbon Tax will be the final nail in the Rudd-Gillard-Labor coffin - and good fkn riddance to bad rubbish.
If we were to accept the premise of "climate change" - a great big new tax on everything does NOTHING to help the climate crusaders cause - an illegimate tax for an illegimate cause. We shut down our economy completely, in this country, and the impact on the environment? Zippidy Doo Daa. That's a fact. Professor Richard Lindzen, one of the world’s most eminent atmospheric scientists in South Australia said some months back: "Repeatedly in science we are reminded that happenings in nature can rarely be ascribed to a single phenomenon. For example, sea levels on our coasts are dependent on winds and astronomical forces as well as atmospheric pressure and, on a different time scale, the temperature profile of the ocean. Now, with complete abandon, a vociferous body of claimants is insisting that CO2 alone is the root of climatic evil." The fanatics such as yourself wombleoz really have nothing constructive or factual to bring forward to your argument other than public chants of: "bring on the tax" "bring on the tax" "tax is good" ![]() |

I could be quoting thousands of scientists on the other side (the vast majority) of the argument Jez but there is no point, the science is pretty well settled move on

science does not agree on this en masse
but the pollies want you to think they all agree ... so a money grab can go ahead a filthy opportunistic tax is proposed ... that will do NOTHING ... for the very problem it is purported to address |

Bob Brown. Tasmanian politition blames floods in Queensland and Victoria are all due to Climate change
.People with Gay tendencies must be the result of Climate change as well then. Would that be right Bob.? Collingwoods drought of flags for 20 years was due to Climate change. Fantastic we have found the solutions to the Worlds hardest problems. |

![]() ![]() ![]() That'll be next - your not wrong. I mean this is just farcical. The argument is As wombleoz has demonstrated, the cause is insignificant, they don't want to discuss the problem, the science or the facts - its all about the tax. An inefficient tax to save us from a problem thats not even a problem. There is one way to stop this great big new tax on everything. CHANGE THE GOVERNMENT!!! |
|
By:
if you ask 100 scientists who specialise in the field 90+ would say that man is having an impact on the climate - no question at all
but you guys all think we should just all sit back and do nothing - she'll be right - don't we owe the future generations more than that??? |
|
By:
i WILL SAY AGAIN .. imo the science is in and whilst the majority of the scientific community can never say a single thing is the cause ...added all together makes a compelling case. IMO pollution is the bigger threat with natural waterways and artesien basins getting ruined by miners...coal seam gas exploration is absolutely going to fk Qld for future generations but they won't say no to the money.
History is littered with "its safe" by big companies to only find damage later. In saying all that ... a tax on the end user is not the answer... cleaner alternatives and the ability to stand up to the owners of capital by parliment. Unfortunately ...the push for this tax simply leaves the current Govt " leading with their head and getting their nose broken" every time it's spoken about. Middle of the Pacific their is a hundreds of kilometres pile of rubbish...how bout they start with cleaning up that...as a world community |
|
By:
Good luck with all that AP, you are spot on we are facing major problems in the future, in some cases already - unfortunately the way the world is today, with the dollar as king, the easiest way to change behaviour is to put a price on it. We could rely on people doing something out of the goodness of their hearts, for the greater good but I wouldn't hold my breath

stop this bullsh!t to and froth about climate change.....it is here no doubt...
in the history of records on world climate, 2010 was the hottest, and we have recorded the 10 hottest years on record in the last 15years, any fool now must agree that the planet is warming up |

hey i got an idea
let's tax something instead of addressing any issue at its core replacement that'll work ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Womble : sell the tax on pollution ...pure and simple ....that will change behaviour quick smart and will go a long way to helping the environment.

logroller - not so sure I agree with you. There are a sizeable (and growing) number of scientists, professors and doctors in the field of climate, water and environment who disagree with some that say the earth is warming. With all due respect, records going back 15 years are quite insignificant when we ponder the time this planet has been around.
The "global warming" marketable name-change to "climate change" wasn't a coincidence. Wombleoz - Oh right, so now we just pull numbers out of the air. 90 out of 100 scientists agree. Where are these scientists? In wombleoz-land? ffs. I love the insinuations from some(namely wombleoz) that, because I (and others) dispise this great big tax on everything (carbon tax) and I disagree wholeheartedly (in line with many professionals within the field) with the collapsing "global warming" or "climate change" movement and train-of-thought and the convenient dismissal of the cyclical and forever changing nature of our environment over hundreds of thousands of years...............it means I love pollution, want the world to end and couldn't give rats about our kids futures. It's a real emotive way of manipulative debate. A deceptive tactic. A guilt-trip. But its misleading. You as well as I, wombleoz, know there are many alternatives, some of which have been pushed in the political arena, to working towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Australia - and of course sharing our good work and encourages others globally to do the same. But your obsessed with your ideological tax - its that, or we're doomed according to you and your fanatics. Similarly, its your scientists word and no one elses. ![]() I am all for and in favour of CONSTRUCTIVE ways of greening up our way of living, working on REAL and ACHIEVABLE local/national/global solutions to easing pollution and curbing the dispicable acts of some sectors (mining, for example) that are potentially leaving behind a toxic future for generations to come. I'm not against greening up (in the environmental sense), but I vehemently reject the crumbling science being the climate change momvement. I simply disagree. And if it were the case that we are doomed - a carbon tax will do absolutely FKN nothing. And for the faithful to say, "well we must do something, it must be the tax" is the weakest, most pathetic cop-out I have ever heard. Pollution tax, carbon tax, save-us-we're-fkd tax....no matter the name the outcome is the same. Oh wait, hang on. Thats right, there are no fkn outcomes for the environment, generated from a new tax. Either way, the ship has sailed on this argument. Gillard, as with many other "issues" has painted herself into a corner - following her declaration before the election that - there would be NO carbon tax. This is political carnage for Gillard Labor, but they've passed the point of no return - you know "decision and delivery" in 2011 and all that jazz. |

ozracer - yes, citizens assembly

By:
citizens assembly is dead and buried where it belongs
pricing pollution, carbon, whatever is going to be a hard sell but it can be done - like i said, the dollar is king and as long as that's the case a price is the fastest way to change things |
|
By:
new filthy tax is imposed upon manufacturers
manufacturers immediately pass the tax hike onto their customers ... in the form of price rises but their is NO ALTERNATIVE source available for the consumer ... so the consumer pays more ... and NOTHING is achieved ... NOTHING and as the maufacturer has been given NO incentive to green up their source ... THINGS WILL JUST REMAIN THE SAME ... yet cost more yeah ... that'll work fixing global warming/climate change (if you believe in it that is) & earth behaviour ![]() |
|
By:
Jez, that is the 10 hottest years in the last 15years of 170years of recorded records on world climate, now i do realize 170years is nothing in the history of time, but it is all we have to go on, so what do u suggest we wait another 170years to make a more informed decision

I have only read the first and latest posts on this thread .
I find it staggering that in a country clearly affected by climate change already(record drought, record temps, current floods)those on the ground do not want to face reality because it will cost them a few bob. Selfish basterds. You want your grandchildren + those in the 3rd world to pay and they will really have to pay - cnuts IMO |
|
By:
To be clear : our grandchildren will pay a sh!tload of $$ (all the time cursing our generation as a$$holes) but those in the 3rd world will pay with their lives and their children`s lives.

says it all really what a cnut to form an opinion reading 2 post out of nearly 300 what a complete fkwit, most posters advocated change but not through an insiduous tax taxes will never change the climate , alternative energy sources with incentive to use them MIGHT the bottom line is that govts cannot be trusted when raising money |

The climate's always changing Tucker Max - has been long before we came along.
And whilst your language is emotive, it doesn't take away from science that disputes the role of CO2 in the atomosphere and the fundamentals behind the climate change argument/movement. I agree in cutting back pollution and working on contructive ways of tackling it - and I have no doubt pollution damages the environment in some form, but I'm yet to be convinced that climate change is anything but the planets regular cyclical weather. Our weather has never been static. The record droughts, the record temps and the floods are not new....Tuckermax ![]() Look at the even-greater floods in Queensland in the late 1800's, along with the extreme temperatures across Australia throughout that period. We weren't polluting as much back then, so maybe our conscience's were clean, but I'm sure they didn't blame "global warming" or "climate change". That argument aside, a carbon tax serves to help the environment in NO WAY whatsoever. It's a fundamentally flawed scheme that doesn't help save us from the impending doom you speak of. |

Oh dear.
The OP never mentioned a tax, he/she said climate change is a myth, I was commenting on that. These responses now make me very sad indeed. You are all in it for yourselves, you apparently don`t give a damn about other people. Sad but understandable on the OZ section of a gambling website I suppose. |

Spot on Max. I'll all for the end of the world.
I hate people and life itself. ffs ![]() You lot really aren't so comfortable about questions being asked, are you? Wonder why that is? It's not like the science is as weak as water, in some cases fudged to make a point or that scientists worldwide are abandoning the global warming-climate change bandwagon.......... ![]() If its so certain, surely you'd be able to come up with something a little stronger than "you just don't give a damn about other people". Yeah, shame on us. ffs. |

let's have a look again ... at alternative opinion ... emotion is high here ... logical balance is low
better the pollies just got on with and hiked the gst so the greater consumers pay the greater cost the filthy tax currently proposed is too cycnical for words firstly from Dr David Evans ... a consultant to the Australian Greenhouse Office from 1999 to 2005. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/no-smoking-hot-spot/story-e6frg73o-1111116945238 And secondly from a UK newspaper reporting what the US head of climate analysis had to say ... One of those leaked emails, dated October 2009, was from Kevin Trenberth, head of climate analysis at the US government's National Centre for Atmospheric Research and the IPCC's lead author on climate change science in its monumental 2002 and 2007 reports. He wrote: 'The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment, and it is a travesty that we can't.' After the leak, Trenberth claimed he still believed the world was warming because of CO2, and that the 'travesty' was not the 'pause' but science's failure to explain it. full article here http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1335798/Global-warming-halted-Thats-happened-warmest-year-record.html gl all on the punt today |
