With the Gold Cup winner a confirmed non-runner my two against the field are Intense Raffles and Stumptown. I understand they are both fancy horses then again this race is merely a glorified handicap race these days. The reigning holder is 'I Am Maximus' but he's running like a blocked drain.

I might have one or two others on the day eg Hendo and Pumpkin (for a stinky Cheltenham).
Report strontium March 18, 2025 7:39 PM GMT
It looks less competitive than in recent years. Stumptown stands out for me too. Also Minella Cocooner - running like a drain this season, but close up 3rd in the Irish national last year, then won the Whitbread. Worth a poke at 40s imo.

my latest national theory and trainers by the looks of it,is going for horse running in chelt X country races and banks races in ire as like in the birh, bullfinches etc fences in X country races, like tiger roll you now need to jump through the fences not over them, the top 18 inches is birch not solid fence, vaniller my main bet more rain the better

There is going to be more than a bit of watering. The weather is more conducive for a holiday in Spain than the usual British one.

Twig will lead for first 2mile maybe longer,so a great trading opportunity, don’t think it will stay.

When will a new market be formed on The Exchange? Thanks.
Report Rydal April 2, 2025 3:46 PM BST
Ante-Post markets usually close at about 8.00 am on Thursday.

Day of Race markets open a short while after declarations are published (say noon - 1.00).Those markets will include the 4 reserves.

In the year 2025 we don't actually know what the ground the horses are racing on is going to be. That's a pretty important factor yet nobody seems to accurately know.

Total guesswork and frankly unacceptable.
Report impossible123 April 3, 2025 8:20 PM BST
I think the bookies are taking the mickey. How can I Am Maximus be 8/1f for the race? The horse has top weight; the ground will be quicker; the horse is out of form.

I like Stumptown and Hewick. The ground may be too quick for Intense Raffles - my original no 1 fancy.
Report stewarts rise April 4, 2025 5:08 PM BST
Vanillier was my Ante post pick at 25/1 after his unlucky Cheltenham run, won his previous race easily and has a 2nd in this race 2 years ago from same weight, can't see any reason shouldn't go well, still 20 on here.
Report impossible123 April 4, 2025 5:21 PM BST
I think I'll miss the bull's eye tomorrow. I've picked the winners the last two consecutive years; prior 2x with Tiger Roll.

Not betting Sad but my win pick is Perceval Levallois @ 11-1

Good Luck runners ….

Not won for ages but think Hitman could outrun his price if he can
get over the first 3/4 fences.Backed him Ave 170 on here & 22s+ Plc mkt.
Had a bet 125 E/W with the books also. Can see Meetingofthewaters going well
again aswell if he stays up,(7TH last year).
Hope they all come back safely.

Form is pretty pointless when it comes to Mullins. Their money and jockey booking speaks volumes.

Report impossible123 April 6, 2025 3:21 PM BST
Which of the runners will show up at Fairyhouse on 21st Apr? The runner-up and 3rd could but have had a hard race, I think; the winner probably will not. The other fancied runners eg Minella cocooner, Stumptown and Intense Raffles esp the last named could given it was pulled up pretty early in the race on unsuitable ground.
