He's one of three I posted on the other thread and he excites me the most. I did manage to back him at 33/1 for the national yesterday morning but unfortunately didn't back him for the race he won!

Here is a horse who has competed in championship grade 1 races over both hurdles and chases at 3 miles or less. He is easily grade two class over chases at 3m but can stay and shapes as though he improves for marathon trips. At the moment he will be carrying less than 11 stone but can only seeing carrying in the low 11 stones as a maximum. If he has a safe journey round he will be very tough to beat.

He will miss some trends such as a minimum of 4 starts that year but as I posted after last years National I can see that record going soon as more trainers wrap their horses in cotton wool for the national.

Rathvinden is exciting, with the class and stamina to win but I'd not want to get too heavily involved ante-post given how fragile he has been in the past.

He's not one of mine several. I believe I'd him (or possibly a horse with a similar sounding name) last year who did not show.

Didn't run last year, only one I can think you may be thinking of is Raz De Maree. That's my shot in the dark anyway.

I think it was him (I remembered it was one of Mullins'), but he was withdrawn here and the Irish equivalent as well. Anyway, just have a small bet on him as cover for Tiger Roll, Anibale Fly and Vintage Clouds - Elegant Escape has already bitten the dust.

If Tiger Roll could reproduce his run in the X-country at Cheltenham last week where he won in a canter he'd be extremely difficult to beat, I'd imagine.

I've changed my mind. He's also in the Irish National, and given Pleasant Company (also Mullins) was 2nd here last year Rathvinden could run there perhaps. Similarly, Mall Dini.

Misunderstood you Impossible, thought you meant he ran but was no good.

I did aftertime the price but I was away with the family on the day of the race and it was a last minute decision to back him. I stated on other thread that I fancied him and I just wanted to see that he was going to run so I knew he was fit and healthy. As I said I din't actually back him for the race he won.

I still fancy him very strongly especially if the ground is gd/sft to good. His win in a PTP on good to firm and his run at cheltenham o good ground suggest it shouldn't be a problem. This ground may help if he happens to carry 11 stone 1lb.

His connections would be happier since the scratching of Bristol De Mai which resulted in the diminutive Tiger Roll carrying 4lbs more for a repeat; 10/1 to win and 5/2 to place (5 places) - all nrnb.

I like Rathvinden, he's 11 but lightly raced with only 19 runs, smooth traveller, classy, won the 4 miler, perfect prep by the looks of it.
