WALK IN THE MILL 33-1
The way he won the Becher, finishing so strongly, makes me think he'll improve over the National trip. If he gets round safely I'm confident he's the one to beat. ULTRAGOLD 40-1. If he goes for this must have a big chance. Shown he excels on this course and jumps the fences so well. Think he's shown enough this season to have every chance of staying the trip. They both look over-priced. |

112 Entries.......
https://www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/aintree/media/press-releases/2019/01/112-entered/ |

The one I had been hoping to see entered is there, Tea For Two.
I think this Grade 1 winner , good jumper and decent ground horse could be the one. |
By:
i thought T42 was an interesting entry. Baywing, Un Temps Pour Tout both missing.
|
By:
He would be dropped in if regaining his Aintree form with Cue Card but I have never thought of him as a stayer .
Trafic Fluide had the pace to mix it with top two mile types and looks as if he stays well . He must have a chance . Blaklion could be interesting too . He probably doesn't get the trip but there is a chance that he could carry 10.10 . For a little chap like him a few pounds under 11.00 might make a big difference . He will come back to form soon . A fascinating race as always . |
By:
I think any Grade 1 3 mile winner can stay the extra distance .
He finished the 2017 King George strongly and when beating Cue Card at Aintree. |
By:
He did when he beat Cue Card . He looked a good horse that day .
|
By:
had a go at walk in the mill at 33/1
|
By:
Tea For Two 66/1 , Post article the horse is being aimed at Aintree , possibly after cross country race . price taken.
|
By:
bet it gets a load of weight
|
By:
It will , but so will Tiger Roll and lots of the other quality horses, none will be running off 10 stones.
|
By:
Number 40 ran off 10 5 last year .

JUST LUMP ON Tizzard's 7yo Elegant Escape - 25's ew with Hilly Billy
|
By:
Weights unveiled on Tues 12th February
|
By:
Elegant Escape must be a very doubtful runner.
|
By:
why is that SD?
|
By:
Well the owners think they have a Gold Cup contender who is only 7. Would they risk the National off probably top weight with possibly 3 Gold Cups in the future.
I think I recall a few entered over the years but they didn't run. Looking at the last ten years 2 7yo's rated 157 have run nothing rated higher. The owners don't have many horses I think they'll err on the side of caution. |
By:
was hoping frodon might be in there, obviously a doubtful stayer but he jumps like a stag, maybe next year, would mind a bit each way on bryony frost if she gets a ride,an excellent horse woman.
|
By:
ULTRAGOLD now 50-1, e.w. 1st 5 with b365. Had to have some of that.
|

If Tea For Two does run well in the cross country you will be sitting on some ticket there. He's on a great mark for a grade 1 winner. Hasn't shown much since placing in the King George though and I think the hope is that the Wind Surgery has done the trick and they are waiting for a Chelteham-Aintree double.
I do have my doubts about him staying since his best form was on fast tracks but this is offset by the 66/1 price. As I say a goood run at Cheltenham and he'll likely be amongst the favourites. |
By:
Shame Bellshill is not entered.
|
By:
Even bigger shame Bellshill didn't run last year off 148!
|
By:
any news on abolitionist plans, trainer said he would not run again until after the national weights are out, thought they might target the haydock trial, but not in.
|
By:
Ballyhill for me.
Also done a Spring Double with Lord Oberon in the Lincoln. |
By:
What rating do you think Bristol De Mai will get on Tuesday? 173? 169? 166?
|
By:
Ballyhill not qualified to run = NR
|
By:
Dunlaying, I am guessing 169/170 for BDM.
Meat Loaf, Ballyhill has a month to get qualified (assuming there is racing before then!) |
By:
That is my worry Rydal . 166 would nearly guarantee that every runner ran from its rating .
|
By:
Dunlaying
It's not impossible. Tidal Bay was compressed 7 lbs back in 2014 (mind you he was 13!) also both Carlingford Lough and Many Clouds were compressed 5lbs off much lower marks in 2015. It's a long time since anything was entered with a rating as high as BDM. At a handicap rating of 166, they might well be tempted to give him a run. |
By:
Let us hope that common sense prevails and 166 it is .
|

Tough as ever, but went with a couple to add to main fancy Missed Approach
Missed Approach 70’s and 50’s EW General Principle 33’s EW Smaller win bet on Mall Dini 33’s, while I’d love NRNB for Sandymount Duke At 66’s, while same price I’d be very keen on Pairofbrowneyes, but he needs to qualify. |

Fab
I'm not sure if he does need to qualify. He won the Leinster National, a 3 mile race, last year. However, at the last minute, they had switched the race from Naas to Gowran where the distance is 2m 7f rather than the official race distance. I don't know whether this counts as qualifying or not. |
By:
Forget that Fab - I've just seen that Willie says he still has to qualify.....
