There is literally no negatives around this horse: - Great trainer (Elliott) - Good jockey (Jacob) - Season geared around National - Two previous runs around National course finishing 6th and 4th - Nice handicap mark - guaranteed to get in the National but will have a low weight - Coming into his prime now
Don't think he quite stays the trip. Could be another Big Fella Thanks , going strongly at the Melling Road after the 3rd last and then the petrol tank emptying.

Was on my shortlist for the Grand National but not after today's Thyestes Chase where he looked a well-handicapped non-stayer. Back to two and three quarter miles?

I don't think connections really wanted to win the Thyestes Chase to protect Ucello Conti handicap mark going into the National. I suspect he was only 80% fit.

I cant knock the horses attitude and obviously the trainer speaks for himself but as has already been mentioned Im not convinced he stays and off the same mark as last years distant 6th, I just cant have him.

How long has this horse been 'well handicapped' for? I can't have him at all. Seems to be put up 2 or 3 times a year for a certain race and always seems to find a few either too good or too well handicapped.
