Think a 4 week break between Chelt and Aintree made a difference... and class did prevail...

Well done Ghostly - great tipping there.

Many Clouds is one class horse. On good ground he may of been the Gold Cup winner not Holywell or RTR.

just seen Oliver Sherwoods interview on At The Races Website and he says Many Clouds will almost certainly aimed at the Grand National and not the Gold Cup next year because he can only carry   1 lb  more next year . what does he mean ,why will he not get a 7 lb penalty ?

What he means is he carried 11st 9lbs yesterday and even if top weight next year he can only carry 11st 10lb

Many Clouds mark will go up for normal handicaps and races.
In the GN the handicapper can give any horse entered whatever mark he likes.
His new rating may be given as 170 say but next year the handicapper can run him off a mark of 163 or lower if he wants.
A term called compressing of the handicap, the sole aim is classy horses winning the GN.
Goonyella for example could still be out the handicap next year depending on what horses enter.

Huge prize money and a virtual top weight winning this year,we could see horse like Conti Holywell Djakadam RTR running off marks of up to 10 spots lower than official rating.

Great performance from Many Clouds but I still believe overall the lower weighted horses still have an advantage given the 2nd 3rd 4th and 6th were all under. I think the difference this year is that apart from The Druids Nephew (who knows where he would have finished) there was a lack of class amongst the horses under 11 stone this year. There should be some very classy horses under 11 stone next year if Many Clouds turns up again and should be very interesting.

A horse like Houblon Des Obeaux would be very well suited by the race and is a great bet for next year if being aimed at it.

the handicapper has already said he will be going up 7 lb so is aready 6 lb well in for next year and if he were to win a race or two before next years national which he could well do as there is no need to protect his handicap mark he could be 13 lb well in by next April .

He won't be 6lb well in just that he can only physically carry 1lb more in actual weight but the higher rating will still mean the others carry less so you may get grade 2/3 horses such as houblon carrying 11 stone or under which didn't happen this year.

Yeah, like most of the field..of course more chance of under 11 stone winning if only handful 11 stone or above...hardly an 'edge'

Still 10/1 and 5places with slybet, very hard to see him out of the frame in the National. Todays warm up was effortless and winged every fence. Can see him being 5 or 6/1 come national day.

I really do think that we have the new Red Rum in our grasp here with Many Clouds.
Although he has more size to him, but the guts, stamina and fencing seem similar.
The GN was an afterthought last year, not this year, he will be primed.
You would have expected the Gold Cup to have left it's mark last year, so how much more has Many Clouds got to offer when primed?
I like Silviniaco Conti but i don't see him as a thorough thorough stayer like Many Clouds and i get the impression any horse that gets to the withers of Many Clouds will have to really fight to get past, MC looked like he was pulling away again on the line lat year.
Struggle to find a horse to out stamina MC, perhaps The Last Samuri.

read lightly anything on the national ..last year the winner was too young ran a real race to win and beat another good one in the horse ran second .,,,,   SAINT ARE  ,,, never going to catch.... one cloud ...never mind many clouds .. your cash goes up and down over plenty fences and a bit of a lottery .. horses fall all around . jocks fall off .  many clouds with a clear run out of trouble looks the real deal .. and still kicking myself for not Betting it last year and watched it do the real Business .. love the colours as well he carries .. good luck again ..MANY CLOUDS ........................
