My sibling and I were talking tonight and he made what I think is an extremely pertinent point about Tidal Bay, which you may not agree with but interested to hear your views. Personally I think he’s absolutely spot on with what he said.

One thing is clear and indisputable. Both Mountainous and Hawkes Point made Tidal Bay veer off a straight and true line on the run in. They forced him to run wider and wider all the way up the run in. This makes Tidal Bays effort seem ever more remarkable.

Yet the singlemost remarkable thing is this. The race itself was run over 7 minutes after it’s scheduled post time because of all that unnecessary Welsh pomp and nonsense that preceded it. This meant that poor old Tidal Bay was lumping 11 stone 12 pounds around in the mud for a full 15 minutes. I don’t blame Jacob for not getting off him in the prelims because how was he to know how long those tw&ts we’re going to be warbling for but don’t you think this was just plain unfair on this wonderful old warrior?

The racecourse was so intent on promoting its Welshness, it never once spared a thought for the horses AND ESPECIALLY THE TOP WEIGHT.

I do hope he gains compensation at Aintree. He deserves it. A true legend of a horse.

Maybe could have given him a head start after waiting around 7 minutes.

Im sure Paul Nicholls said in his column that the longer the race was delayed by a good bit of tarrarumptyay - ideally around 5-10mins - the better the chances of Tidal Bay as hes a fckin nut job nayway and the more bonkers the start becomes then the better his chances of winning.
Or maybe that was me just reading between non-existant lines.

I backed Tidal Bay btw and was delighted by his run, though i did also back Mountainous which helped ease the pain.
