Following first forfeits Beshabar, Jessie's Dream, Treacle, Lost Glory and Problema Tic now guaranteed a run. Notables outside the 40 remain :- 41 Saint Are; 43 Wyck Hill; 44 Chicago Grey; 49 Harry the Viking; 50 Rare Bob; 51 The Rainbow Hunter; 57 Alfie Sherrin; 60 Any Currency; 61 Tartak

Still 4 non-qualifiers - 3 of which would probably affect the cut-off. There was a bit of a bet on Bob Lingo (from 800s down to 200s) last night so I guess the connections are going to try to get him qualified (maybe Down Royal) in the next week.

Very hard to call - a lot will depend on the going at Aintree (and Fairyhouse beforehand); and how horses recover from Cheltenham. I think Alfie Sherrin is safe.

Yep i always get to this stage of the season and think "that horse won't get in". But in reality there tends to be loads of withdrawals for various reasons and somehow horses scrape in.
I'm hoping Tartak gets in (currently 61) - not sure why but I think it could run well!

Yes, I agree on numbers with Rydal. Possible defectors - Midnight Chase, Albertas Run, Odysseus, Cloudy Lane, Major Malarkey imo .... MC, AR had poor Cheltenham runs; French horse still not qualified; CL will likely go for Aintree foxhunters; MM pulled-up with problem after one fence in Midlands National yesterday. Add to that minor health problems with Imperial Commander; Sunnyhillboy and some recent poor runs from the likes of Oscar Time; Calgary Bay and it is likely to whittle down the field to around 50 by the time the 48 hour decs and four reserves are declared on April 4th ...

Updated with absence of Prince De Beauchene, and Beshabar. Going by other threads, Tofino Bay looks more likely to head for Fairyhouse, he won't be the only one no doubt. Looking at market on here, Lion Na Bearnai looks like he's losing his battle to get fit, trainer having previously stated he was 50/50.

cannot believe JP will let Quiscover run at Fairyhouse on heavy when he has lost Wyck Hill and only (ahem) has two runners - there's no money trying to get on QF for the Irish either in the AP

Ok non runners = Prince de Beacheane, Beshebar, Wyck Hill, Tofino Bay, Magnaminity, Across the Bay (probably), Lion Na Bearnai (probably).
That leaves Any Currency as the last horse to get in. First reserve would be either Major Malarkey or Poker de Sivola depending on the handicapper as they currently have the same weight

Be interesting to see whether either or both Magnanimity and Romanesco remain declared today, just in case of early mishap in Irish GN today - if scenario occurs then those who have laid them at 1000 are in for a nervous few days !!

Six more taken out at 5-day decs .... Magnanimity; Lion Na Bearnai; Bostons Angel; Tofino Bay; Bob Lingo; Wyck Hill, leaving 49 which guarantees Any Currency a run (reserve last yr missed out) Poker de Sivola at 40; Major Malarkey 41 and both Soll and Romanesco remain in despite rumours to the contrary.

JHAS is right, but they won't officially apply the "ordering by current hcap mark" until final declarations, so MM is currently at number 40, but when final decs are made on Thursday, assuming things stay as they are, MM and PDS will switch around - they're both on the same mark for the race, but PDS has the higher hcap mark on declaration day.
Then again, if one above them comes out, then MM will be 39 and PDS will be 40 as when you're inside the 40, you stick to the original order - they only use the "ordering by current hcap mark" system when horses on the same mark are inside and outside the cut off.

Chance they may keep the decision until Friday morning at last minute to wait and see as long as possible whether they are going to get in or not. I hope they get in but suspect if no pull outs by midday Friday they will take chance in Topham.
