Using these trends last year ended up with the 2 highest rated horses finishing 1st and 2nd.

Won a 3 mile plus chase
Run in at least 10 chases
Aged between 8 and 12
Run off 135 or higher
Won at least a £17000 race
Carrying weight of 11-5 or under
Fell no more than twice in whole career
Last run no more than 48 days

Applying these trends you end up with the following -
Sunnyhillboy rated 152, age 9
The Midnight Club rated 145, age 11
Rare Bob rated 145, age 10

According to Pete rated 145, age 11
Killyglen rated 141, age 10

Planet of Sound just misses out as its last run would be 49 days.
I will be backing the top 3 above each way. I have discarded According to Pete because he ran 42 days ago and 7 out of 10 winners of the national have won when the last run was up to 34 days. Also he is aged 11 and most of the national winners have been aged 9 and 10.

Was The Midnight club a trends horse last year too?

The Midnight Club has only ran in 3 handicap chases which equates to 25% of his chase runs, that should be 40%.
