Buy the spread for the number of finishers at 15.25 with Sporting Index.
The number of finishers has been 19, 14, 17, 15, 12, 9, 21 for the last seven years, which makes their spread of 14.25-15.25 look about right but I reckon there are good reasons to fancy 16+ finishers this year: 1. The fence heights have been altered (most especially the drop at Becher's) 2. The horses running had to qualify by placing in a long steeplechase
I'll be waiting till BF puts up a finishers market, but I reckon there's some value here. It says on Oddschecker that SJ are going 6/4 16 finishers but I can't find it on the SJ site.
Spread is now 15.5 - 16.5 so if you'd dabbled for a grand a point you could sell your position for a £250 profit now. Easy money!

Just carefully reasoned advice and a guaranteed huge profit
Reminds me of the time I gave winning advice all the way through a test match and made about £2 myself. More than I made on this "tip"!

PS That's because I don't play with Unsportingindex any longer since they gave my email address to a dodgy Chinese outfit. (Probably accidentally and unwittingly, but they completely denied that it happened despite me proving it beyond doubt. That'll probably be enough to get this thread deleted.)

there probably isn't time now but I wonder how many runners usually average a finish in the Topham, and compare that to todays race where the fences have been altered since last year.

The wise ones sold the bet before the race got under way. It seems the changes to the rules/course made not a jot of difference. There's going to be another big outcry about this, isn't there? Just imagine what a mess there would have been if the going had cut up heavy.
I watched it with my daughter and she loved the spectacle and the finish and the celebrations, but when she realised horses were dead she just decided she didn't like it. What can you say? I find it hard to explain even after defending it for years.
