have always liked this horses attitude, he is a streetfighter ,one who you would want on your side in a battle, and possesess unlimited stamina and seems to go on anything from good to heavy .
he seems to still be improving and added the gold cup to his lexus and welsh and midlands nationals .
many have crabbed his gold cup win over the giant bolster and long run ,some saying kauto and long run didnt run thier races ect, indeed some were even calling him a plodder before the gold cup but the way he finishes off his races  does anyone belive that kauto would have outstayed him up the hill  if kauto had completed .
on saturday all being well he will line up in the national carrying top weight of of 11.10 ridden by the champion jockey a.p mcoy and trained by possibly the best trainer of staying chasers in the british isles .
looking at the weights on first sight he has a stiff task ,but looking closer as a gold cup winner he has to give last years winner the 11 yo ballabrigs 1b ,second fav junior 8lb, 3rd fav west end rocker 12 lb ,this is a lexus and gold cup winner in a handicap who only just seems to do enough to get the job done . the problem is all the big prices have gone and he now trades around 9/1 on here but 9/1 for a gold cup winner in a handicap you wont get too many of them .
he has had only 4 weeks to recover from his gold cup exertions but his connections would not run him unless they were sure he was 100 per cent on his a game .
another negative could be his jumping , a lot of forumites have said he wont get round ,doesnt jump well enough ,he can be an untidy jumper as in the gold cup on good ground where he was outpaced and was forced out of his comfort zone and made  5 niggling mistakes and was being ridden early on but still had the class to come through leading after the last and powering up the hill to win going away .
on the anticipated softer going at aintree he should have more time to measure his fences and should travel better than on fast going and if he takes to the unique fences and gets into a rhythme can see him picking a lot of the prominently ridden horses  off from the last mile .
put it this way if this fella is withing striking distance 2 out out there wont be many running past him .
there has only been 1 gold cup winner who has won the national in the same season in the last 75 years so the stats dont seem bright ,but looking back through history how many have tried ,can remember garrison savvanah and he nearly won it ,only getting run out of it on the run in .
to sum up the positives on synchronised out weigh the negatives imo and we could see golden millers record as the only gold cup /national winner in the same season equalled . selection synchronised 2 pts each way .

Keep reading that no horse has won both races since GM.

Does anyone actually know how many Gold Cup winners have tried?

the weight is the is major negative, its lumping top weight round 4 miles that stops a great horse.

Hav to say that although on the softer he will hav more time to judge the jumps I think he will hit to many fences to win it n cld easily fall but hav to say that if he is still with the front pack even 3/4 out I think he wil win it.... He is one of those I dnt think he is worth the place if u gona back him do it to win! But good analysis!
Report barry rico April 10, 2012 8:57 PM BST
the weight  wont stop him winning . i think he will win if he does  not fall  . however i think that is quite possible so i have gone ew giles cross
Report FOYLESWAR April 10, 2012 9:23 PM BST
in the last 5 years or so the handicapper has adjusted   the weights giving the classier horses a better chance and the last 3 winners all carried at least 11 st to victory ,dont push it carried 11st5 lb synchronised is being asked to carry just 5 lb more .
i kinda think that synchronised may take to the fences as he seems to paddle/scramble  over some of the normal park fences . all pure conjecture of course but its the same for most of them who havent tried  these fences granted he is running off of a higher mark but as a2 time  grade 1 winner he is not harshly treated imo.and i think there could be a fair bit more to come .

can see where you are coming from barry rico and giles cross isnt a bad call ,its difficult as you dont know how any of them will take to the fences and a lot of guesswork is requiered ,but thats racing and if it bwas easy we would all be millionaires .good luck and enjoy the race .

I think he has a great chance.6lbs lower than his Gold Cup win, will like the ground and has the heart of a lion.I think he'll jump around okay and showed more pace when he won the Lexus than I have ever seen him produce before.I thought he travelled really well that day and I can't see that many dangers in this field.Of course he will need luck in running but if he's there going out on the second circuit I think he will go mighty close.

Lets all face up to the fact he cant jump & wont get round. Its all very well 'paddling' over park fences. He aint going to get away with it here.
Report FOYLESWAR April 11, 2012 2:40 PM BST
cant jump! how the feck has he won a lexus, a gold cup, and 2 nationals ,please tell !
Report kelami April 11, 2012 3:24 PM BST
Doesnt jump with any fluency. Nowhere near good enough to win the National. Ok the fences have been made easier, but its still a jumping test, far stiffer than jumping park fences.
Report jasey April 11, 2012 5:08 PM BST
he hasn't fell in a chase yet
Report FOYLESWAR April 11, 2012 5:15 PM BST
thats correct jasey never yet fallen in a chase , he jumped well in the main in the  lexus ,in the gold cup he did not jump great( fast pace and fast  taking him out of his comfort zone )but still won ,beating long run in 3rd who jumped as well as i have ever seen him jump.
