I hope they opt for a pop at The Nash - I've got plenty bits and pieces on at 60/1+. This would be one of my 6 or 7 against the field at this stage. What are your own thoughts?

Has to be the National. Failed to get in last couple of years and now has his chance. Question mark about stamina but loves Aintree and the fences and this time of year and on low weight. Only question stamina but if you don't try you'll never know.

Peter Bowen was pretty miffed he didn't get a run in the past, so I imagine they'll be desperate to have a go. Hasn't he had six rounds of the National fences and only failed to complete once when falling in The Sefton? He's also won a HCP Hdl way back in Jun 2008 at the track. He clearly likes it here; my only concern is the distances he's been getting beaten this season, but at the price Always Waining is a fair bet.

After his first topham win this boy owes me nothing but I've a few bob on at big prices so hope he runs.
He's a spring horse and clearly loves the place and i think if he runs he'll be a player.
Smashing little horse by the way really love his attitude.

Yes Trev been quiet mate, too many other things going on to get involved in here, but more time lately, especially with my fav meeting coming up -
O'Brien - had a winner yesterday and was interviewd, nothing revealing, just said looking forward to it. WOuldnt want to pay poker against him!

Terrific! I remember that there was a bit of a forum whisper for this fella two years ago, which I was lucky enough to have a little bit of. I kicked myself when he followed up without me on last year. So, of course, i couldn't let him go unbacked this year, could I???? I backed Little Josh but spent as much time watching AW, mixed feelings, but he owes me nowt and it's great for the game when these things happen.

Little bit gutted as backed him antepost for the national last two years, but made up for the Bowens deserve all the best. Sure Peter was despearte for a national winner ater Mckelvey (RIP) came so close so must have been a tough call, super horse over those fences, reallistically 4m 4f, dont think so....

I am very gutted with this horse. I tipped him up on here at 100/1 prior to his 4th in this race in 2009. I never carried on backing him from then on, dont ask me why

Good thread patsyone. I never replied as I considered he would never stay the GN trip. After watching his 3rd Topham win yesterday, I am not so sure. If all is well next April, he certainly deserves to take his chance. GL

If connections decide to run in this race (which I think he should) you need to give this horse serious consideration for the marathon chase, ok he has stamina issues... but the way he jumps those fences and the way he runs on after the line suggests that the race has not taken much out of the horse.
I actually feel he is atleast better than maybe 30 horses in the national field considering he jumps so well.. and if they dont go off too fast I wont be suprised if he in the top 4... he is 40/1 at the moment wont be that price on the day... think he will be the plunge horse.

kelami • April 1, 2013 2:53 PM BST I reckon the trainer would rather try for a fourth Topham, but owners keen on a National bid.
It has always been the other way around in the past.

Today is the day. If he wins tomorrow then he is only surpassed by Red Rum. The yearly Aintree cash machine shall shortly be open for business once more.

you just have to have a tenner on him at these odds don't you? especially if you've backed him before in the topham and he doesn't owe you anything
you know you'll get a great thrill watching for at least a circuit, hopefully more!

Well ive tossed and turned for days trying to get excited by 1 horse to really cheer on for THE RACE,Always Waining is now my horse, the gn always throws up a story and ive had a dream and seen the headlines,,,,Topham Champion WINS the national after owner power wins over Trainers wishes... I went to put a bet on with bet victor, only a £10 e/w last night it went from 40/1 to 28/1 in 2 mins whilst i messed about trying to find another horse to go with it......
