New rule says a horse must have been placed 4th or better in a steeplechase over three miles or further, which these horses have never done. They have until the end of 20th March to do so, failing which they'll be eliminated then.
Bookies are not expected to refund stakes on any horses eliminated in this way.

Hector's Choice is now qualified, having got placed in the Racing Post Trophy.
Didn't exactly run like a horse who wants another mile and a half, mind you |

Hectors Choice came back with an overreach so difficult to say whether he got the 3 miles properly or not. I wouldn't fancy him for the National though.

These horses are out of the National, having failed to qualify and having no more entries before the deadline on Tuesday:
Quantitativeeasing Schindlers Gold Little Josh Shakervilz Hector's Choice has qualified. Psycho and Minella Theatre have entries this weekend in races that could qualify them. |

Psycho managed to qualify, just, by running fourth at Down Royal today.
Minella Theatre isn't running this weekend, has no more immediate entries & will be eliminated on Tuesday. |
