All welcome to join in

First race: 5.30 - please post selections before 5.15

Rules:

1. Make a selection in each race

2. Count your selections and make sure you haven't missed any races out

3. Please name the selections, 'FAV' or race card numbers are not permitted

4. Please have your picks in 15 mins before the first race. THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED

5. Abandoned meetings: Only meetings where at least 4 races have been run will count towards overall scoring. In the event of incomplete meetings naps will not count double and half points will apply to the overall scores.

6. Naps & NRs

NRs can only be changed up to 15 minutes before the first race - otherwise your selection will be switched to the favourite (lowest card number if joint or co-favs).

If your Nap is a NR, it will be switched to your last-named selection that runs unless changed at least 15 minutes before the first race.

If more than one nap is nominated, the first one will stand, and likewise if more than one selection is given for the same race, the first one will stand.

Any confusion regarding what the nap is (eg none given), then the nap will go on to the last-named selection on the card that runs, unless clarified at least 15 minutes before the first race is off.

7. SCORERS DECISION IS FINAL

Problems Posting on the Forum
If there are patently problems accessing the forum for many, the comp on such days will be voided.

Thank you

One selection per race
One nap per meeting, double points awarded

Winner selected scores 7 points
Second selected scores 3 points
Third selected scores 1 point

If SP is greater than 6/1 points are doubled
If SP is greater than 12/1 points are trebled
If SP is greater than 20/1 points are quadrupled
If SP is greater than 28-1 points are quintupled.
If SP IS EVENS OR SHORTER POINTS ARE HALVED (i.e a 4/7 winner scores 3.5, a napped 10/11 second scores 3)

The overall leaderboard is posted on the Your Comps Forum

There will usually be one meeting a day to select at including Sundays, except for AW Finals day when there are two meetings to end the season with.

I'm pretty sure I wrote in my evening 'excuse' section Blush, that they wanted to take the headgear off because it was stopping her from pulling. No headgear tonight for the first time in ages.

A win for mw thanks largely to a nap on Panama City 5-1, who was finally confirmed the winner after a lengthy stewards enquiry.

A hat-trick of winners for runner-up Billposter in races 2-4 which also included Panama City.

Three winners too for cobs101, which included a nap on Crimson Coronet 4-7.

They've another in the same ownership, Evocative Spark, who like Love Your Work, they've been running over sprint trips even though their winning form is over further.

Race 1 - 5:30pm
THE ALWAYS GAMBLE RESPONSIBLY WITH BETUK "HANDS AND HEELS" APPRENTICE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) (Part of the Racing Excellence Initiative)

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of ON CLOUD, ridden by Andrea Pinna and trained by Kevin Frost which after jumping on terms, was ridden worse than mid-division throughout, losing touch with the leading division of runners down the back straight and having its finishing effort delayed until approaching 2 furlongs out, whereupon it then stayed on strongly in the home straight from an unpromising position to finish third of eight runners, beaten by 3¾ lengths. The rider and the representative of the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer performed two post-race examinations of the filly, which was routine tested and he had nothing to report. Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Pinna was accompanied in the enquiry by the BHA Jockey Coach. The rider stated that his instructions were to jump out, drop in to get ON CLOUD to relax with cover and ensure that he kept the filly balanced giving her the best chance of running on and finding the line well. Pinna indicated that due to the steady pace through the early and middle stages, ON CLOUD raced keenly and he was initially positioned closer to the leaders than desirable so when the front three horses extended their advantage over the rest of the field down the back straight on the final circuit and being mindful of his mount’s earlier exertions, he stayed tracking DUKE OF VIENNA (USA) for some distance approaching 3 furlongs out hoping that horse would commit with its challenge and take him into the race which, ultimately, it failed to do. Furthermore, he was also reluctant to commence a wider move forward into the race earlier as he considered it important to keep hold of the filly’s head and ensure she was balanced on the bends before mounting his effort off the home turn. Pinna explained that the filly had finished to good effect in the home straight after the leaders got first run on him. The trainer’s representative confirmed the instructions given to Pinna and stated that the ride had accorded with them, although he did feel the race had not been run to suit ON CLOUD in the circumstances. Pinna was suspended for 12 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to obtain the best possible placing on his mount in that, for a significant distance from leaving the back straight until approaching the 2 furlong marker, he had failed to improve his position at a crucial stage of the race and had left the filly with too much ground to make up, before then also appearing to ride ON CLOUD somewhat considerately at times in the home straight, even allowing for the fact that this was hands and heels only contest.

Race 6 - 8:00pm
THE WIN £2,000,000 WITH BETMGM'S GOLDEN GOALS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6)

Permission was given for KIMIFIVE (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood.

BERKSHIRE PHANTOM (IRE), drawn 1, anticipated the start and accelerated the gate at the same moment as the race had been started and was slowly into stride as a result. Being satisfied that it was not caused through a faulty action of the starting stalls, no further action was taken.

The performance of PESSOA, which dead-heated for fifth place beaten by 6 lengths, was considered. It was noted that Adrian Wintle could offer no explanation for the geldings’ performance.

Jack Doughty, the rider of REVISION, which dead-heated for fifth place, beaten by 6 lengths, had appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post. After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Doughty was suspended for 1 day for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing on a horse that would have finished an outright fifth.

Crazy two extremes on the same night - one miss judges a ride but gets 3rd and 12 days, the other gets 1 day for stoping riding and missing out on a clear 5th instead of DH 5th Crazy

Well done George.

As you say a busy night for the stewards. I'm surprised that they didn't speak to a few of the other jockeys at the back in the first race. They were as guilty as Pinna in leaving it far too late.
