That's why, if you get to the 'elite' division, as you have, your days are numbered if you try and play the game!
Sad but true!
The majority of the forum's good judges are scuttling away in Divisions 1, 2 & 3, with the exception of madhatter, but sadly, he won't survive in there for long, even if he wants to!

Hi Norfolk...same old thing....1/28 is personal choice and if that's how sad they want to be then that's their choice.
But, as always, my issue is how one person is allowed to pick the same horse 5 times over every day for 5 'different' competitors, win or lose....surely the organisers have the balls to just drop 4 of the names from the competition???

If all those people put up odds-onners then surely another person only has to find a few even money naps to stay ahead of them. Shouldn't be too hard for someone like yourself Norfolk

The 'problem' could be solved, albeit not easily because of how the settling workload would be managed, though I'm sure it would be easy for a spreadsheet wizard.
Do away with the divisions and promotion / relegation, and create seasonal championships, of which there would be three a year.
1. From The Lincoln to the November handicap: Flat Turf Season
2. From the Monday after the November Handicap to the AW Finals Day: AW season
3. From say the early autumn Chepstow meeting through the to the Sandown meeting at the end of April - NH Season.
This way you have annual / season long champions.
In a perfect and generous world, Betfair would provide a nice prize for the seasonal champions (if anyone in the corridors of power is reading this...).

George, I have very politely asked BF customer services about the chances of any small prize for the AW comp for the past 2 years and they have very politely told me its not something they are interested in.

To be quite honest these c*nts in the 'elite' division have completely devalued the Naps competition!
It's become totally meaningless!
There's countless c*nts in the 'elite' division that you will never ever shift!
They'll never ever win it, (apart from a lucky pin strike on the last day of the month) and they'll never ever get relegated!
As madhatter says, the only true yardstick of one's napping ability is undecided's monthly / yearly NAPS STATS!

mackies, they did put up prize money for some knockout comps that were run on the HR forum, but the contact told me they weren't sure if they would be able to continue doing so once they had merged with Paddy, and I didn't ask again after that.

The relationship between the SP and the 'true' probability of a horse winning a race goes right to the very heart of the Racing Game. Bookmakers and some informed punters thrive on the uncertainty of this relationship. As this competition boils down to selecting winners, why should competitors resent the selection of long odds-on shots? We all know that this strategy gives more chance of picking a winner but it carries with it the massive downside of a slender profit. Napsters should look at the actual returns from the range of SPs - there's no free lunch there. If you select 10/1 chances over a period of time your winning percentage on average would be 7.2%. If you select 1/10 chances over the same period of time your winning percentage on average would be 90.5%. The real point of this competition is that you will probably win it if the average winning % of your naps is better than the overall average for the SP of your selections. And that's the way to be a successful punter at SP too - a very difficult thing to achieve.
