NH BIG RACE COMP 2018/19 - Race 26 - Midlands National

The Rules:

The competition will cover 30 or so of the most competitive races of the NH season.

A thread on which selections can be posted will be put up a couple of days before the race and selections can be made up to 1/2hr before race time.

Players are given 2 stake points per race.
Players can use the 2pts on 1 selection or share the 2pts between 2 selections, 1pt each.
Points will be awarded based on each selections finishing position down to 5th place.
Results will be settled at SP.

1st place will get stake x 14 x SP
2nd place will get stake x 7 x SP
3rd place will get stake x 4 x SP
4th place will get stake x 2 x SP
and 5th place will get stake x 1 x SP


Non-runners:
If you choose one selection, please nominate a reserve just in case of late withdrawal.
If you choose two selections and one is a non-runner, your 2pts will go on the remaining selection, unless you left a reserve.
In either case you can replace a non-runner as normal up to the 1/2hr cut-off time.
If you make a selection with no reserve, and it doesn't run, your 2pts will go on the favourite (in case of jt or co favs then the 2pts will go on the one which is highest in the hcap)

In the event of dispute, my decision will be final.

Thanks, UD, first time I've ever missed one of these. Good reason, actually, was rushed to hospital Friday morning after collapsing, only got out today, no laptop in that time. Seems I will survive for now, but may well have heart, and/or renal issues which need looking into. When  I queried early retirement (I am 61) the staff just looked at me as to suggest I'd be mad doing otherwise. Ah well...

Hi steph yes I did wonder, hope it all turns out to be nothing serious although must be scary for you.

Got referred to Neurogralist today by Doctor, as instructed by the hospital, though that will take a while to arrange. Got blood tests booked in interim too. Off work until at least end of April, probably a lot longer, quite likely that's it! Thankfully I dont remember much of it. But I couldn't be let loose on buses alone, in case I have another seizure (on pills, so less likely), and have speech issues too, which given that's my job...

Thank you all. However as far as work goes, judging by reaction of both hospital staff, and doctors surgery, that's probably it. I'm 61, would have been retired before they changed the rules, and my voice is damaged by it, and that's my job, speaking on phone. Certainly isn't tipping, lol.
There is also the big issue, that unless they can cure it, travelling on a bus, on my own, when that could happen, dont think so!

But lets wait for all the results for now, fingers crossed, though medical reaction, doubt that will be good!

Many years ago I used to run/jog with a guy from work who suffered from serious fits
If it was going to be a bad day he always said he knew the moment he got out of bed
His doctor told him to keep fit
He first told me about it whilst we were out jogging & told me what to do if it happened
The trouble was his favourite run was along the beach on the waters edge
It was before mobile phone days, and 30 mins run from help
I was always more concerned than him & 45 mins was a long time to get back to somebody if the tide was coming in
The good news is 30 years on and he is to my knowledge still OK although he doesnt jog now
