NH BIG RACE COMP 2016/17 Final Table

What a finish to this season's high scoring high quality competition! The top 6 all finished with a higher points total than last year's winner and the top 3 substantially more so.

It needed a high price winner in the last round to dislodge Virgin and that's what we got.
Congratulations Trusty, never afraid to punt on the outsiders and fully rewarded here, led the competition around the turn of the year after big scores in the Caviar Gold Cup, Welsh National and Betbright then a quiet period and finished with a bang - 40/1 whopper!

Aquarius too had the big winner in the finale and in fact finished within just 10pts of Trusty. 22 scores from 30 and one missed race, superb performance!

I thought Virgin had sealed victory with the 50/1 stunner in the Topham but hard luck to be caught at the death, still 3rd place is a fantastic achievement with such a high finishing total.

TEN2FOLLOWER led for a while after big scores in the Coral.ie and Skybet and Betbright, excellent 4th place in the end.
Moose in 5th and adamanty in 6th can be proud of their performances, Andrew In Sweden, bluenose7, haplessamatuer (the only top ten finisher who was also in last year's top ten) and pumphol round out the top ten.


The comp wouldn't mean much without all of you who stick with it the whole season so thank you very much for your loyal support, hope we can do it all again next season, although in my quest to win this one year I might have to start handicapping some of you

Thanks Undecided, pleased to add my name to the roll of BRC winners.

Watched the rerun of the Whitbread yesterday and couldn't believe how many horses in with a chance after the last; so many times the leader at Sandown is swallowed up after the last (or given a stinking ride a la Mick Fitzgerald on Juveigneur in 2005) as they come up the hill, whilst you are so occupied watching your selection, you don't see all the others coming. It was a fantastic finish and a great race cementing Sandown as a premier jumping race track.

Bad luck again to Virgin and for the record, I back any horse I put up in any competition - I thought everyone did!

Roll-on next year's Hennessy to start all over again.

Trusty I was referring to my Topham winner ....I tried to back @160 (greedy in hindsight) but wasn't matched so had to get some in running

I can't say I back them all in a competition as some of the a/w racing is suicidal
