Some of you may remember a comp I ran on HR last year, over a number of Saturdays with elimination stages towards the final.
I have some time in October to run a shortened version, see details below, so if you are interested just enter below or enter on the day, no limits on numbers.
The Competition will run over 4 Saturdays, beginning 1 Oct, finals day will be on 22 Oct. Each elimination Saturday, all qualifiers start with zero pts and the challenge is to score enough points to finish in the top 66.66% of competitors so that you may progress to the following Saturday. Any points that you do score are only carried forward to the final Saturday, provided you get that far, see above. On finals day, for the purposes of the overall competition, the points you earn each Saturday are cumulative, the player with most points wins.
Rules/Format: You are to make 5 selections on each Saturday + you may nominate 2 reserves. You may choose from any British or Irish race on that Saturday. No instructions such as "last race fav", each of the 5 selections and 2 reserves must be named. Max 2 selections per race across your 5 selections and any reserves. Please post all selections together at the same time. There is a fixed stake per selection of 1pt Win and 1pt Place, to be settled at Betfair SP with a nominal 5% commission deducted. Standard Betfair exchange place terms will apply (no reduced places for non-runners). In races where there is no place market due to lack of runners then the 1pt place stake will be automatically transferred to the win bet.
All selections must be in before 2pm each Saturday or before the scheduled time of the first race that you are selecting in. Non-runners can be replaced up to the 2pm cut-off or up to the scheduled time of the race in question whichever is sooner. You may leave up to two reserve selections if you wish, to cover non-runners, beyond that, any points on non-runners are deemed losers as are any unused or otherwise invalid selections. The reserve selections if needed, will be applied in order they are posted, ie the first reserve will cover the first timed non-runner.
Any player failing to score on any particular Saturday before the final is automatically eliminated irrespective of the 66.66% cut-off If there is a tie at the 66.66% line then all tied will go through, except if their score is minus 10.
Example: 30 players entered. 1st Saturday you need to avoid -10 pts and finish in the top 20 (or jt. 20th) to progress to the 2nd Saturday. If you score say 50pts and finish top on the 1st Saturday, you keep that total for the final day but you must still be in the top 66.66% on subsequent Saturdays to reach the finals day. So if you score a leading 50pts on the 1st Saturday but then score -10 or finish lower than 13th on the 2nd Saturday (66.66% x 20) then you are out!
As an example the number of entries could look like this: 1st Saturday - 30 2nd Saturday - 20 (66.66% of 30) 3rd Saturday - 13 (66.66% of 20) Finals Saturday - 9 (66.66% of 13)
