If you do it this way there is no official recognition of someone's retirement. If someone posts a selection on the last day he cannot be retired in that month as he has taken an active part all month. He can only be retired the following month. That's my view, partly as one who used to regularly monitor and analyse all divs (as I'm sure a few people do) and spend time tracking down why someone has suddenly disappeared.

I think since everything has already been settled on the basis of you replacing the retirement we are probably better to stick with that now. But I think we should revisit this (and the joint promotees issue) and decide on what to do in future I( and write it down)

If it helps I don't mind staying in Div 3, wouldn't have expected to go up in 8th anyway, nor to be split in case of tie, I thought it was only allowance days that were used as a tie-break.
