One rule i'd like to clarify is a 'final day' rule...Fidway selected a non runner some 30 minutes after the horse had been officially withdrawn yet didn't have a point deducted. Because everyone has to post on the last day surely the non runner should be treated as a loser.

posy, it`s something we keep an eye on all the time, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt unless it was happening fairly regularly. Last day where relegation is concerned as today, I would have adjusted warwick`s score had it saved him had the post been 30 mins + after withdrawal.

To me it`s something to monitor, if say the same person did it twice in a week then I would mention it. I still believe in the spirit of the comp and am prepared to take peoples word, after all the honesty shown by many over the years has been heart warming.

That said, if I felt someone was taking the p1ss I would act accordingly.

There should maybe be a change in the rules for the last days nap, people who take advantage of the rules without breaking them. Cough Cough.

Posting known Non-Runners, is breaking the rules!

Shane it's difficult to believe in the spirit of the competition if a competitor is knowingly posting non runners and not getting penalised...in fact it's a joke.

I certainly agree with that,although as it happens it didn't do fidway's friend any good.

That's not the point Salmon...he's been caught out this time however one's bound to wonder how many of his previous successes have been won by adopting such tactics.

I think Shane would have spotted it if he'd done it regularly,although quite how many personalities fidway has is another matter.
I imagine checking n/rs and the time they are posted would cause the settlers too much work tbf. Maybe on the last day it COULD be written into the rules.

I do keep a sheet where I make notes of certain things, like n/r`s selected after withdrawal.

I know maybe at the end of the month the odd napster may be tempted by such a move in a bid to avoid relegation, I`ve always been aware of that, early middle stages of the month would be baffling as far as I`m concerned. If any of you ever have any concerns re such practises just PM me, obviously discretion is assured. I know plenty who are retired who compete, maybe they could keep a close eye on any n/r`s that are not replaced?

I`m also aware of how close things can get towards the end of the premier div month.

Do we need a hard rule written in for this?? I know I have selected a n/r on a few occasions over the years after withdrawal.
Intentionally it`s the last thing I`d do as I post a lot on Sunday`s and always replace where possible, just human error, well more rushing whilst at work and not re-checking if it`s still a runner.

Shane I think a written rule would be a good thing to have. I found a loophole and never broke any rules.The fact is I try to post a nap every day including Sundays. While we are at it we should put a cap on the amount of odds on chances  you are allowed a month.

Unfortunately Norfolk and salmon are correct...this is meant to be a friendly competition and Fidway's bending of the rules cannot in my view be ascribed to merely exploiting a so called loophole. His past successes should be expunged from the roll of honour. and  then a line be drawn under the matter and we all move on.

I suspect posy is a wee bit bitter, either that or he finished 2nd to me once lol.

To ensure this would not happen again then if you put up a horse on the final day & it becomes ( in this case became )  either early or just before the off a non runner  then sadly your on a loser.
That way no exploitation can take place, I was in a relegation spot some time back & my horse became a non runner after racing started, ok I never lost my £1 but as a non runner & I could not change it it meant I was relegated without a run, those are the rules by just tweaking them further this should not happen again, your selection does not run for whatever reason you lose your stake, simples really.

Gives an advantage to those who are in all afternoon and a definite disadvantage to those of us who pick in the evenings   
I would have no objection to people being penalised if they post a selection which has ALREADY been withdrawn ( whether intentionally as Fidway apparently did or not ).Probably asking a bit much of the settlers to do it every day but on the last day I'm sure they'd get a lot of help     

No way should it be -1 for a non-runner on the final day. Totally unfair if your horse becomes a non-runner after racing starts and you can't do anything about it.

I'm coming in a bit late on this so i may have the wrong end of the stick. When I post a nap I always check the card on BF to see if its a non-runner. Not only that but the time of withdrawal is shown as well.  If it is then I choose something else.
If its withdrawn after the posting then thats fair enough. My opinion is that if the withdrawal time is before the time the nap is posted then either a days holiday is lost, or if its the last day then it counts as a non-posting and therefore minus 1.
As an example I noticed one in Div 1 today posted more than an hour after the horse had been withdrawn. To me thats a non-posting.

Shane/China the only point at issue is the posting of a selection after it has been officially withdrawn.

If a horse is withdrawn after being posted then of course that wouldn't warrant a point loss.

I still don`t get it, why would anyone, even on the last day choose a n/r. The case in point highlights this. 100% of the time I will live or die by my selections, not sit by waiting & watching how others perform, if I`m in trouble I`ll fight or blast my way out.

I`m very disappointed in you fidway. You all see my views on the comp and the spirit it is played out by 99%. I`ve always been vocal
in this and similar areas. Though I do applaud you for not lying, as it happens I knew it was deliberate, this isn`t the first time you`ve done it

Is selecting horses at 1/25 etc in the spirit of the competition. Surely you would be just as well picking a n/r. I tried to pull a fast one and it didn't work, its hardly a hanging offence.

Right let`s draw a line under this now, we can rattle on forever debating the finer points.

Ok so we drew a line under it and then on Monday Fidway posts in the afternoon a horse withdrawn at 8.45 that morning....and gets treated as a non runner with no point deduction. It seem to me that he's an out and out cheat and am amazed he's allowed to get away with it.
