It all happened at the top. snowy moves within £5 of long time leader pumphol who has let big leads slip before Whoops
pumphol came very close, his 25/1 shot beaten a short head. hkf and myself are also well positioned as we move into the second half.

Well done all winners.

Most unlucky there pumphol, firstly not to win despite the interference, then not to get it in the stewards room.
There were 2 pieces of interference, firstly hampered when the other jt fav got squeezed out, then carried right by the winner who held on all out.
Yet another ridiculous decision by British stewards.

Well done today's winners, btw.

The winner won by a sh hd and they've banned Morris for not doing enough to keep his mount straight, yet keeps the race despite 2 separate incidents of causing interference. You couldn't make it up...

He does seem to have a problem with people picking horses at bigger prices, the "well I'll still  be here long after you have gone"  comment perhaps not quite in those words but along those lines is bought up at regular intervals.

Pick something at 10/1 your a guesser, pick something at 4/9 your a judge.

Problem is I don't have a problem with people picking short one's but I do with people who obviously show contempt for people who pick decent price animals.

At the end of the day it is a tipping comp your vision of a "selection " is just different from mine

£11 not enough to get in the top 5 Shocked , not seen a month like it.

George , as someone who bets on a lot of US racing , I would always take our rules every time. You can win be half the track and get thrown out for breathing on another horse.

Pumphol , unlucky not to be on £70 now Shocked , you must be making some serious money recently. Have to agree with salmon though , picking on a Sunday is just not on Grin

china, I'm not talking about individual preferences as punters, or that horses should be DQ'd when they've clearly won on merit and the jockey has done what he/she could to keep their mount straight, I'm talking about the hundreds of examples, like the one tonight, where a horse causes significant interference before hanging on to win by a narrow margin, yet is allowed to keep the race; especially in races where the winning jockey has also been found guilty of a riding offence.

Underlying this, is the suspicion that the rules have been framed to ensure that bookmakers rarely have to pay out on the double result concession, meaning that racing's profits, which are linked directly to bookmaker profits, don't suffer as a result of horses being DQ'd on a more regular basis.

I actually agree with GEORGE.
Personally I think the US rules are fairer though they have cost me a lot tbh.
By:

When: 15 Aug 15 22:41
The punter argument is a flawed one anyway, cuz it assumes you'll always be on the 'offender' and not the 'victim'.

If you were writing the rules from scratch, safety of both horse and jockey would be paramount, and the way to ensure that is to do what the French and Americans have done, you make jockeys aware that the threat of disqualification is a REAL one, not just an unlikely occurrence, as it has become in this country.

Because jockeys KNOW in this country that they are highly unlikely to be DQ'd, regardless of the winning distance, safety is being compromised, and one day it is likely to result in serious injury / death for a jockey, IMO.

Spencer DQ'd in the BD, forgot what country he was riding in and didn't do enough to keep his mount straight whilst flailing away. He's clearly learnt SFA from the Powerscourt debacle.
