ah of course, kept thinking pauli was in div 1 ... BUT, need to know where stevie gerard finished to be certain

pauli was retired from division 2. FCH won`t be one short, he`ll lose five through relegation (pauli included) and gain five from promotion (division 3)

I`ve just remembered Stevie has retired, I`ll just check, div 1 if I remember.

No shane, this div, but he won today so I'm sure he's escaped the relegation zone. So there will be another one needed after all.

He is in div 2, surely that saves ardgirl who finished in the last promotion place.

I must admit that I assumed that ardgirl would be safe.

I see what you mean Reg, but he announced his retirement yesterday, so i would take it he is retired this month not November.

Two different types of retirement. Those that announce it and those that don`t and get retired by the settlers.

I dont see that as logical ... stevie got a 7/1 winner today. Are you then going to publish a table reflecting that result and then say, ah but he's retired so ignore that. I don't think that's right and isnt the way it was done previously. The resignation has to take affect at the end of the month's competition because he posted a nap for the day. Logically you would then  have him as retired through the following month, but that is a bit silly so you might as well take one up at the start and have done.

If he didn`t say anything and just didn`t post going into mid November then obviously he`d be a November casualty but he signalled his intentions not to continue into November so he`s an October casualty so to speak.

No, he is ac tually a November casualty - it's not when he announced it, it's when it applies and it clearly applies AFTER the completion of the October comp

What in effect he was saying was, I'm going to finish the October comp, then quit in November, if that helps clarify it

Personally, I agree with what shane says because he indicated his intention to retire at the end of the month.

In my book 'after tomorrow' equates to November 1

Stevie posted today 31st, he has now finished. If he is retired from November then it`s still only five to be promoted from div 3 for tomorrow.

Extra promotion places are gained from retirees from the premier & division 1

No but he intended to take part October 31, did so, and won to escape relegation, which I am sure he would like to see reflected in the table. As I say, the strictly correct thing to do is to have him as retired at the  bottom of your November table

Okay, I stop. But I stand by my view that the ruling is plain wrong and illogical.

Can't wait for a similar debate at the end of November when shane, Reged and Bettys are all around the drop zone

It doesn`t affect the promotion places from division 3 1st Nov or 1st Dec. From a personal view i`d sooner have him retired in November as it`s one less relegation place for me to worry about

Oh FCH just noticed your post.

Reg, his standing in the table is there, but as anyone who retires they get retired against their name and scored accordingly, if someone retires i don`t think they are that bothered about details like that, they want out for whatever reason.

Atone quit on Nov 1 and was replaced by firstnamewinnerlastname. That is what should have happened this time, as stevie was also actually (in his own words) retiring on November 1
