GEORGE consolidates his position at the top, an excellent run from Prince's Trust.

Biggest winner of the day, flyingbolt who picked out Farhh in the Lockinge. It wasn't exactly a Hawk Wing type performance for the mighty Ballydoyle in 2003, but a much needed success for Godolphin and the excellent Saeed bin Suroor.

Hilly and heeore both came in with Dundonnell to ease their fears at the bottom of the table, and salmon and china were excellent marksmen with Bold Sniper at Thirsk!

A brilliant winner for Optimize at 10/11, and let's see more of these odds on shots flying in gents! You know it's the way forward!

Finally good news for all of the Prem that shearer lost!

Regarding Napping odds on shots i would myself do so if it was in the last day or two of the Month and had a chance of promotion or survival as this would be sensible to do so.
Existing rules that allow 10 days LRF whether one is on holiday or not as you know i do not agree with, simply because this does not allow to show ones true ability and can create a false League Position, i would say that a better system would be to do away with the last race fav rule and allow everyone a 7 day per month rest period (optional) excluding final day and make Sunday a normal day. (Most Sundays have better racing than a lot of mid week racing anyway)
It would have been hypocritical of me to use a rule that i disagree with when i could do it another way within the existing rules.
By asking HKF to post the biggest odds on shot of the day for a 5 day period at least i knew i was going to be somewhere near the league position on my return that i was in before my Holiday and if HFK had followed my instruction it would have been 5 winners from 5 selections from myself without even looking at a newspaper, this also shows how easy it is to survive in mid table in the Premiership if that is a Napsters ambition. (though i do appreciate that existing premiership Napsters have earned that right by getting into the division in the first place)
The other option would have been to ask HKF to pick and post for me but if i gained promotion in that way i would not have felt i deserved it the same applying if i gained promotion using the LRF ruling.
I am not in anyway meaning to be critical of existing organizers who do a Job that deserves nothing but the utmost praise.
Just suggesting ways of improving a very well run and most enjoyable Napping Competition.
In answer to your question Shane Yes i did Nap a 1/7 winner.

It will happen again next time i am on my Holiday if rules allow.

What's happening with you Salmon 7/4 and 5/4 winners you putting me to shame? (well done and hope it continues for you mate)

I'm not entirely happy about the LRF rule either but it may be the best compromise available. I think you need 10 free shots anyway as a lot of people have two week holidays ( including me up to the end of 2008 when my health went haywire ). I must say when I first started instructions in the lower divs did only seem to be used for specific periods ( holidays,business trips etc ) but there appeared to be one or two people in higher divs than I was at the time who had standing instructions for LRF as they were never sure if they could post from work. I think those were genuine. We then had the complication that people put up silly ones like the nap of the tipster on the longest losing run. I believe the organisers were getting fed up and went for the current set-up. I think,whilst not ideal,it's probably the best compromise.

As salmon said, it seemed the best compromise, I`ve yet to see or hear anything fairer. You have to have something in place after all.

As far as Sundays are concerned I`d go the other way and have a day off, I really would. Seven days a week would be too much for the settlers, I shouldn`t speak for the others but in this instance feel confident enough too. When I decided to have a go at settling I did it because I had internet access at work and was able to enter selections as the day wore on and in turn settle the early races, in winter it would all be done and dusted before I came home. Now I don`t have internet access and finish quite a bit later it can be a pain the odd night starting from scratch (being honest there)

As I said I can`t really speak for the others but it has to be as simple and straight forward as possible for us.

Luckily the comp is always played and run in a great spirit, to me that is the single most important feature. Long may that continue.

Would have thought No posting would have made it easier for the settlers than LRF Shane ?
If it makes it easier for yourselves why not make Sunday a complete rest day then?

I mean doing away with the Last Race Fav and replacing it with a maximum of 7 rest days per Month were a Napster who if so wishes not to post can take 7 days a Month off without being penalised any non posts above 7 would be -1 . Last day rules would still apply.
This would cover anyone for a weeks holiday,hospital,sickness etc
If you need 2 weeks off like i do in July and if you can't get anyone to post for you for the other 7 days then its tough Titty.
Just a thought. It does Naff you off when you are on a bad run and then someone who is not posting gets 3 LRF winning on the trot. Silly really.
I do not mean going back to the old different types of instructions, that was Hard Work i imagine for the settlers as Salmon pointed out earlier.
