There is a large gap between the first race tomorrow and the next race in May and although I originally intended to add a h'cap from the Newbury meeting in April, I have decided just to stick to the heritage handicaps. It looks like the first race may well be abandoned anyway! If they reschedule it then it will still be included in the comp - so keep your eyes peeled.
Mr Moloko is the defending champ but you should remember this is a marathon not a 100m race, so not scoring in some rounds is inevitable. I asked Betfair to offer some prize money for the comp, considering it has been running many years and is enjoyed by many forumites but of course all they have lots of money to waste on other initiatives, they have nothing to offer the comp; so as always it will be for prestige only. |

Glad I spotted this Trusty or I would have forgot, no races at the Craven meeting next month mate ?
|
|
By:
No, just the races that are HERITAGE HANDICAPS. We could do more but then they would be a random selection of additional races and this way they are classified by the BHA.

Think it used to be but rules changed a few years back:
BY JON LEES11.31AM 11 OCT 2009 THE number of races carrying the 'heritage' tag are set to be slashed after the BHA agreed to raise the prize-money level minimum at which a handicap can be called 'heritage'. As a result, only races worth £75,000 or more will be classified as heritage handicaps, but the change will not affect the number of open handicaps in the race programme, according to Racecourse Association chief executive Stephen Atkin. "The BHA racing committee have concluded that the prize-money level of a heritage handicap should be raised from £35,000 to £75,000," Atkin said. "What is important for the racecourses are the conditions of the race, that they are open handicaps. "Ruth Quinn [BHA racing director] is happy for those races above £35,000 to stay as open handicaps, but the word ‘heritage’ is to be limited to those above £75,000. Whether the word heritage means anything at all is a moot point. “It is a strange word to use, because some of these races are quite recent. It is much more appropriate for races like the Lincoln Handicap or the Portland than something created last year.” copyright Racing Post |
