PAUL HANAGAN notched a double at the Stobart Lesters when he was presented with the Flat Jockey of the Year award and the Racing Post Flat Ride of the Year honour at the annual ceremony in Birmingham on Thursday night.

Hanagan, who will bid for a third successive title this year, landed both awards for which he was nominated, taking his tally of Lester wins to seven. He picked up the ride of the year award for his successon Barefoot Lady in the Nell Gwyn last April, voted for by racingpost.com users.

The bash, which celebrates the achievements of jockeys from Britain and overseas, took place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in front of over 450 sporting stars, celebrities and guests.

Tony McCoy added another Lester to his haulof 17 after being named Jump Jockey of the Year. Joseph O'Brien's ride on Camelot in the Racing Post Trophy was deemed the SIS International Jockey Ride of the Year, while Cathy Gannon took the prize for the Prolinx Lady Jockey of the Year award for the second time.

Paul Struthers, chief executive of the Professional Jockeys Association, said: "For jockeys there is no greater recognition than that of one's peers in the weighing room. Every Lester that has been won this year is hugely merited.

"Special mention goes to our Flat racing champion Paul Hanagan, who has won two more Lesters. Paul enjoyed another remarkable year in 2011, winning a tremendously exciting battle for the championship for the second year."

Lesters winners:

Stobart Jump Jockey of the Year: Tony McCoy

Stobart Flat Jockey of the Year: Paul Hanagan

Apprentice Jockey of the Year: Martin Harley

Conditional Jockey of the Year: Sam Twiston-Davies

Prolinx Lady Jockey of the Year: CathyGannon

Racing Post Flat Ride of the Year: Paul Hanagan - Barefoot Lady, Newmarket

At The Races Jump Ride of the Year: Maurice Linehan - Tarvini, Huntingdon

SIS International Jockey Ride of the Year: Joseph O'Brien - Camelot, Doncaster

Jump Jockey Special Recognition: Anna O'Brien (physiotherapist)

Flat Jockey Special Recognition: Philip Robinson

When did good friday fall on boxing day?

In 1899, a horse named Good Friday fell in the Thorneycroft Chase at Wolverhampton on December 26. This question is among the trickiest commonly asked in quizzes with many people failing to know the answer.
