Hopefully the remainder of your team is ready?

Welcome aboard War Admiral, and thanks for the recruiting Undecided.

War Admiral - hopefully the rules of the competition are clear but feel free to ask any questions.

Nice to have what appears to be a full team compliment, and hopefully we can return to winning ways this year.
Irrespective of the results hopefully we can have an enjoyable year, in what is an excellent well run competition.

Thanks for signing in Mr Ferret and Andrew, if the remainder of the team see this please confirm hat you will be playing this year

Regards
HH

Good evening all

One or two relatively new faces, but hopefully we have now got a settled team and can look forward to a good season ahead.

Please feel free to add thoughts and suggestions as to any tactics etc, but generally in the past there have been no "team instructions" and it has been left to everyone to make a judgement as to how to best use their selection. We generally have a mixture of short priced selections, each way value bets, some choosing to play early in the week others leaving it until Saturday.

A few general points which I am sure everyone will agree with:

The main thing is to ensure that we don't lose any picks, inevitably there will be weeks when someone  cannot post be it for lack of computer access, family commitments or simply just forgetting to post. Therefore if anyone intends posting late on Saturday can they state their intention in the week in question on this team thread, otherwise anyone who is around on the Saturday afternoon should play a wild card on their behalf if there is a "no show" at say 3.00 to avoid us losing a pick.

Regarding holiday absence etc - although this should not be a problem this time of year, any absences should be notified in advance and I suggest we draw up a rota for the wild cards -picks can then be played anytime in the week rather than leaving it to last thing on Saturday.

Feel free to put up alternative thoughts.

Finally and most importantly, hopefully you will find this an excellent competition, enjoy it, and best of luck.

Regards
HH

Just had a look at the team selections and notice War Admiral has not yet made a selection.we may need a wildcard,if someone can keep an eye on this, off out now.
good luck team.
Report hoof hearted • February 11, 2012 1:57 PM GMT
Good afternoon KBGJ best of luck with your selections and glad you have got access.

Mr Ferret - I'm not sure who else is around this afternoon. I will be around most of the afternoon.

It is slightly easier today having the evening meeting at Wolves, so I suggest leave it as late as possible to give War Admiral time to show, but we have a 4.00 deadline so suggest we give him to 3.30. After that time if anyone fancies anything place a wild card.

I will play if no one else fancies anything to ensure that we do not lose a pick.

Best of luck
Regards
HH

i am going to post 3.45M ingleby spirit 5pts ew it ran really well there last time winning by 16 lengths i dont think war admiral will pick now
Report hoof hearted • February 11, 2012 2:50 PM GMT
Well done Duke with Everard, and good luck with your wild card.

I'm sure all the Team will agree that unless someone actually posts to say that they are around and will be playing their selection late, we have got to play the wild card if there is no show by mid afternoon.
Report hoof hearted • February 12, 2012 9:54 AM GMT
Well done on your points Andrew in Sweden to add to Duke's and Mr Ferrets earlier scores.

Puts us nicely placed going into the second phase of the first round.

Best of luck this week.
Report dukeofpuke • February 18, 2012 12:34 PM GMT
i have picked the minack ew so we now have 2 picks in the race with penny max ew, i was going to pick balder success but gone.we now have war admiral to pick who seems to have sunk without trace so it looks like we need a wildcard, and as i picked the wildcard last week its now up to one of you to chance your luck
Report undecided • February 18, 2012 12:38 PM GMT
If War Admiral doesn't turn up today I'll invite dogdayafternoon who was next on the waiting list to join you.
Report mr d ferret • February 18, 2012 12:51 PM GMT

Report hoof hearted • February 18, 2012 12:51 PM GMT
Thanks Duke and undecided

Anyone else around this afternoon to be on standby for the wild card?

I suggest give War Admiral until 2.00 then feel free to post a wild card if he does not post - this will allow a few more races to select from (with the 1 hour rule)

Best of luck everyone - I will look in again around 230 and ensure that we do not waste a selection.

Welcome aboard dogdayafternoon, I'm sure you will enjoy the competition, hopefully the rules are pretty clear on Undecided's threads, however just post if you have any questions.

No problem with the geography!, the name came about when the competition was revamped probably 4 years ago - new teams were formed often to coincide with preferences e.g. all weather punters, each way etc, we put up a team for us Northern guys but those days are long gone, and myself apart all the original team has left the comp. I'm Sheffield based so I continue to carry the team flag!

Best of luck everyone this week

Good afternoon - I am about to go out until late afternoon hopefully KBGJ will spot this otherwise if you are around Mr Ferret ( or anyone else) please post a selection to avoid losing a selection shortly before the cut off time for making selections.

On a slightly related note we will shortly be entering the holiday season and no doubt more opportunities for playing wild cards.Has anyone any strong thoughts on this - I suggest a rota so everyone knows when they can make the extra selection to cover for a known absence, and the pick wont have to be a last minute Saturday one.

A good team effort this week with a lot of us picking up points, would have set us up nicely for week 2 had two of the teams not had a really good weeks.

A bit of advance notice I will be away for a week from next Saturady - I will post this week (but in the unlikely event that I have not posted by this Saturday e.g. computer problems, place a wild card for me as I will not be posting on the final day).

I definately will not be posting w/c 10 June therefore please play a wild card on my behalf.
