Kempton forecast "perfect" ground for their hugely anticipated meeting on Boxing Day.
The recent mild spell has fuelled the sense of excitement ahead of the William Hill King George VI Chase, in which the great Kauto Star and reigning champion Long Run again go head to head.
Clerk of the course Barney Clifford said on Christmas Day: "We had a little light drizzle overnight, but it's dry and breezy this morning - and very mild for this time of the year.
"The ground is good to soft in the main, but the chase course is good to soft, good in places.
"There is a chance of some further drizzle, but it is nothing to worry us and we anticipate the ground to be perfect for everybody."
It is a similar story in Ireland ahead of the fixtures at Down Royal, Leopardstown and Limerick, with all courses having profited from the favourable conditions.
Irish Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: "Everything is fine and we are on course for a good couple of days.
"There might be a few showers around, but nothing on the scale of last year.
"Leopardstown is soft, Down Royal is heavy, soft in places, while Limerick is heavy.
"If anything, the ground might even improve heading into Boxing Day.
"There is a good old buzz around this year and bumper crowds are expected."
Wetherby are due to stage the Rowland Meyrick Chase on Boxing Day and also issued an upbeat bulletin.
Clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson said: "It's 12C today and very windy.
"We had 2.5 millimetres of rain overnight, but I've left the ground as it was - soft, good to soft in places.
"The forecast is dry, the wind is due to ease, and we might even be in for a touch of sunshine."
There are no reported problems, either, at Ffos Las, Fontwell, Huntingdon, Market Rasen, Towcester, Wincanton and Wolverhampton.
