bluenose7, good to see you joining in but I'm afraid you've fallen foul of two of the Rules there. Not your fault; I haven't reposted them for a few days.

The Rules are open to discussion/criticism/suggestions etc. but my thinking behind it was that no-one is really trying to win the Div2 title. Promotion is the main goal. But I saw no harm in allowing 10% of the stakes to go on the win market, a) because only you would know if you have any intention of going for it, and b) any more than that could conceivably make the whole thing a huge anticlimax if a player who had bet his whole bank on himself at a decent price then found a big-priced winner and became uncatchable. At least this way he'd still he'd still be catchable in the betting comp via the place market. Hope that makes sense!

The idea of the total bets in one day not to exceed £100 was once again to prevent anyone gaining a huge advantage by putting the whole bank on at a big price. It works on the principle that everyone is trying find a winner every day and no-one will deliberately pick a no hoper just to push their price out for the sake of the betting comp. Having said that, it's easy to find a loser five days in a row without even trying, so this rule may not have much of a restraining effect in many cases.

So I've put you down for £50 on yourself in the win market and £50 in the place market for the moment. You can top it up over the next few days if you still want to.

And like I said, please feel free to comment on any of the Rules.  It's your comp (collectively) so it's important that we arrive at a set of rules which everyone is happy with.

Apologies for not posting the Rules every day. I simply didn't want to overcrowd the thread with stuff about the Betting Comp trial.
Next month will be the one which matters; a one-off competition to end the year, open to all December Div2 players plus any from this month who got promoted or relegated and who took part in this month's experiment.
So this month is simply for me to play around with the mechanics of it, and for players to experiment with strategies and watch what other people do.
It's also to make sure the Rules are sensible and that they work. It's all open to discussion/criticism/suggestions etc.


Promotion Betting Comp Rules

Each player will have £500 to bet with

    - all bets are for the Top 5 Market, with one exception: the ONLY person you can bet on in the Title market is yourself, subject to a maximum of £50
    - minimum bet £10
    - maximum total bet(s) in any one day £100
    - all bets must be exact multipes of £10
    - bet on the same player as many times as you like
    - bet on as many different players as you like (including yourself)
    - bet on as many different days as you like
    - no betting on the first day or the last day of the month
    - all bets must be placed by Midday (the start time of the first eligible race may be earlier in which case you may not bet on anyone whose selection for that day has already run)
    - any player who retires will be deemed to have crashed through the rails. i.e. No refunds
