When I took over the settling of this division, I said it was for a limited period until someone else could be found to take over permanently.
I'm quite happy to carry on for a while longer but I just thought I'd mention that the opportunity is there for anyone who's champing at the bit to have a go at it.

However, I no longer have the benefit of being able to use the Excel spreadsheet which the other settlers do. This spreadsheet has an excellent macro built in to it which calculates everything at the click of a button and sticks the finished table on the clipboard ready to be pasted on the thread. There's no work involved other than entering the selections and the results - a 10 to 15 minute job. It's superb.

But I don't have Excel on this computer. I dug out my old computer and used that initially, but it gave up the ghost a few weeks ago so I now have to settle and prepare everything manually which is very time-consuming, as you can imagine. I've streamlined it as much as I can and it's a lot quicker for me now than it was a month ago. Even so, it still takes a long time compared to using the pre-prepared Excel spreadsheet.

So, any help I can get from you lot in the way you type your selections would be very much appreciated.
The selections appear on the spreadsheet like this:

Hot Rod Mamma - 3.30 Thirsk

A few of you have complied with previous requests to post selections in this format and now do it every time, for which I'm extremely grateful. All I have to do is copy and paste it with no need for any editing.

But I still have to edit the majority of them, even if it's only putting the dash in the middle, or typing in the meeting because someone's just written Y for York or Yarmouth or whatever, or capitalising words because the poster's too lazy to do it. Frankly it's a time-consuming pain in the arse which I could well do without.

I have to do 30 of these a day. You only have to do it once.

So please, please try to get into the habit of typing out your selections EXACTLY the way they appear on the spreadsheet. It would be an enormous help to me.

Thanks very much - and the best of luck for today.

If you are doing it long hand MOMM, you've got plenty of time on your hands mate, try www.openoffice.org, if you know how to do spreadsheets or can remember your excel set up you should be able to crack this ok, it's free too Laugh

That's what I'm using - OpenOffice.
The very complicated macro written for Excel doesn't translate to OpenOffice which is why I have to do most of it manually.
If you know how to rewrite it so that it will work in OpenOffice, that would be great. Happy

I suppose there's always the danger that some numpties have got it configured to 'sort by: Newest first' and may not bother looking at the opening post. I hadn't thought of that.

Thanks everyone that's read it so far. It's going to make it so much easier for me.

Hi MOMM.

Thanks for digging out Mr Keyte's Naps on my behalf last week and for your kind resume of my August efforts. Much appreciated.

Just getting back in the saddle and amazed to find myself in Div 1 albeit only by virtue of a retirement. There's some seriously good players up there so I'll probably be back with you soon.

Cheers,TM
