This might be the shortest Thieves thread on record if we get eliminated this week!

Let's try to build on what was, in reality, a damn good effort this year.

Yep. Should have been somewhere near the winner by my reckoning!
Report Oshun Fynanse • December 11, 2010 12:01 PM GMT
I'm a bit torn. I have two in mind. One this afternoon at a big price but would have to go win only because we're so far behind. I would be happy in a normal week to go each way on it. Or one this evening that is speculative but I do fancy quite strongly and may have the option of it being each way because we'll have done so well this afternoon Laugh

Thoughts? - Is anyone going in early-ish?
Report stewpot • December 11, 2010 12:22 PM GMT
My thoughts are we are going to need two winners unless that one decent priced one turns up
I think you will have a wildcard Oshun

Out of interest my one tonight was Dot's Delight in the 750. Borderline on whether it would have helped us, around 14-16/1 to one on the books. I shall have a nibble win/place

Report Oshun Fynanse • December 11, 2010 10:27 PM GMT
Don't worry boss. Any of us could have waited. We all know that you are there week in week out with limited ammo late in the day. You've done us proud and we all appreciate it. We might be empty handed but we've done very well this year.

I'm off to Argentina on the 18th. On the way back I'm at che's whilst I secure him a good price for his obscenely good wine. Nobody grows syrah/shiraz in Portugal but he spent 5 years finding the place he could do it and delivered in no time. My father in law says "en clavo" which is a rather bizarre transalation of nailed it!- We sold out his 2009 at 250 euros a case and this years will be more expensive. Shame he can only make 2 cases LaughLaughLaughHe does look in sometimes! -

It's been a thrill being in this team and my form has been OK I think. I want to continue and hope that we can keep the line up.We're a good outfit and a match for anyone.

Another exhilarating profitable week thanks to JB54 - what a 'Return' [:D][:D][:D]
he could so easily have put us into the lead but for the price crashing
hope you were on early JB
but yes it was not to be

Reflecting a tremendous season lads
we were very close in every comp LoveLoveLove
a great sign of consistency & endurance everybody playing their part
and maybe a biased team view but plenty of great camaraderie from you all
that is what Undecided's comp is all about & how I think he it intended to be played
Thank you all for that, it makes the Captain role so much easier

On a personal note I know we all have good & bad runs but mine has been chronic
my last winner was about May 20 yes MAY says it all, furthermore I know my circumstances have been changing,
it will be even worse next year, and as things stand I will be missing for 10 weeks
I am sure you could improve as a result of that, but my time spent racing will also
be on the decrease, can I get any worse I here you say

So as a result guys I thought it only fair to tend my resignation Cry
I can understand the desire (in some areas) to keep the team together
but you are running on 88% capacity with me in (unless I get lucky)

We also need to put up a Job Vacany note - ie Templesgates position
I will put up a note shortly, you can think about it
Report hong kong fooey • December 12, 2010 1:03 PM GMT
Stewpot as you and other Thieves
convinced me earlier in the season
that my form would return, i can
assure you,you will soon find a couple
at nice prices and your confidence
will be sky high again
Remember your job is much harder
with restricted races to go at
Report DeSSieReborn • December 12, 2010 3:39 PM GMT
Stewpot I know from our E Mail exchanges how different your season would have been had you put up your fancies that came up during the week rather than selflessly hanging on to play late on Saturdays. Your eye for winners is simply outstanding [;)]

Anyway, with regard to your absence, I'm certainly happy to take back Captaincy when we restart or even just when you are away. Maybe others might be interested? We can sort it, but whatever we do I'm absolutely certain you'll be back with a bang next year!!

Maybe Elmer would be interested in returning to the competition with the Thieves next season? Wouldn't do any harm asking?

Oshun........your form has been far better than "okay"!!! Give our best wishes to che [;)]

Report billy onions • December 12, 2010 11:08 PM GMT
Hey Oshen, how about getting some of that wine over to Thieves HQ (ie Stewpot Towers).  That'll
put a smile on his face [smiley:crazy]

You know what's best for you and family skipper and we're all behind whatever decision you make.  As
mentioned our camararderie is what makes this comp for me, our monthly threads have more posts than
the other teams put together I reckon (is that partly why we've done so well?) and thats down to the
prolific Stew and Dessie so keep it going fellas.

I'll be having 50p on all Stew's picks in the new year and then I'll buy one of Che's cases of vino [:D]

He's since got me an invite onto the "Get me out of the Jungle" survivors tour with Lembit Opik & Gillian McKieth
evidently I qualify for living in the dark for 5 months, with an allergy to searching trials,  and having to swallow my nasty tasting pride on a regular basis, so I may be even busier than I thought

Many thanks Oshun, btw let the delivery boy know the kitchen door will be left open, leave the case in the larder, enjoy your break

hope you have all enjoying a nice break  Silly
great news guys we are concluding our recruitment campaign early,
just carried out two lots of interviews Euston St station just before xmas and Harrods yesterday, long days and very lengthy difficult decision making
after much 'soul' searching our new member will be  "Curb your enthusiasm"
please make him feel welcome Love

As you know I am going to be away for 10-12 weeks (2x6),  and if its acceptable to you guys
I would like to nominate "Zipper" as my stand in for that period
however that is also entirely dependent on it being acceptable to Zipper,
I can more than understand it if he prefers to be permanent member of a Team
(a role Oshun originally carried out for Che-Ole if I remember rightly)

hope this meets with your approval guys
thought it better to get it sorted before the transfer rush
