I have replicated Undecided's recent post below, and as you can see the new season is almost here, and the competition has a different format to last year.
First things first, can we have a headcount - please sign in to confirm that you have seen this post and will be playing again this year.
I have been in touch with Young Inca who has advised that he will not be participating ths year, YI was one of the founding members of the Punts, therefore it would be amiss of me not to thank him for his valued contribution to Team over recent years. Best wishes YI.
Unless anyone knows of a replacement,l we may as well wait until everyone has signed in- there will probably be other teams with vacancies, and as such there will probably be a post at somestage inviting new players.

Time to gather up the crew, the fun begins soon
This year we are going back to all teams in one, the basic format/rules are the same but I'll highlight the differences from last year.
Duplicate selections will be allowed during the week up until 2pm on Saturdays. No duplicates within teams at any time though.
The scoring will be as follows: For each monthly round, weekly winners get 9pts, runners-up 7pts, down to 1pt for 8th spot. Bonus points will now be earned on a weekly basis, so as the average weekly score per team was about 65pts when we were last all in one 2 yrs ago, teams will be able to earn 1 bonus point for each 66pts scored in any one week. For example a team scores 210pts in a week, they will receive 3 bonus points for scoring over 198 (3 x 66). For the yearly comp, monthly winners will get 8pts, runners-up 7pts, down to 1pt for 8th spot, there will be a 8pt bonus at the end of the year for the team with best profit.
There will be a Champions League mini tournament at the end of the year, after the league finishes on November 27th, lasting two or three weeks (format yet to be finalised) and open to any team that completes 4 top 4 finishes in the 8 monthly rounds.
Dates for this years comp:
31 Jan - 27 Feb - Month 1 28 Feb - 27 Mar - Month 2 28 Mar - 3 Apr- KO Cup Quarter Finals 4 Apr - 1 May - Month 3 2 May - 29 May - Month 4 30 May - 5 Jun - KO Cup Semi Finals 6 Jun - 3 Jul - Month 5 4 Jul - 10 Jul - KO Cup Final Summer Break 5 Sep - 2 Oct - Month 6 3 Oct - 30 Oct - Month 7 31 Oct - 27 Nov - Month 8 28 Nov - 18 Dec - Mini Champions League (TBC)
WD everybody today, just seen the results. A great day!
A special WD to mully on pulling a dark one out of the hat (either you had inside info or you were guessing stevo!) and to Duke of Puke for getting off the mark. Luck comes in runs DoP and maybe you´ve turned the corner now.

Hey mully, did you get that 20-1 shot in the bumper the other day? I nearly backed it ew but Maguire was on the fav so I wrongly thought it couldn´t win...

Nice first run of the season finishing 2nd behind a decent looking Botti horse. Was a big fan of Haggas last season especially on 2nd and 3rd runs.

Remember guys, I'm retiring at the end of May if any of you are keeping this going after the awful forum changes. It just summed it up a few minutes ago when I had to press REPLY twice and wait ages to post this very message.

Yes well done with the good score earlier in the week.
Going for Yarooh tomorrow in the 2.05 Thirsk, should enjoy the burn up on faster ground again, hope it will ping out from the draw and have enough back down in grade, after fading when leading last time out on softer ground albeit against better grade animals.

posted 2.40 thirsk royal swain but had to change that to ice tea 5.45 bangor because of 1 hour rule for posts before race time
royal swain was not much of a price at 8-13 but as it was running in a maiden after winning 2 nh flat races it looked like a shrewd placment by the trainer
gone for ice tea in the hunter at bangor as horse is ahead on all 3 ratings
another one i fancied catherines call 4.15 newbury with johnny murtagh on board but horse has won last 3 but this is a harder class 4 and also i have been follwing it as its my daughters name

Some more good points from KBGJ, plus a few coppers from me to add to earlier scores means that we have had a decent last day to take second place.
Well done everyone

gone for lovelace e/w at 3.30 haydock as it should be up to win this was also thinking of doing jack my boy 3.20 newmarket e/w as its got a good win record 5 from 15 which is good for a 3 year old sprinter only doubt would be the ground and positioning of stalls which goes hand in hand with conditions as its been raining who knows what the ground condition actually is where the stalls are
anyway enough waffle feel free to use it as a wilcard unless you have a better choice

Been busy this week, so not had much time. I took a look at the standings and presumed that we needed points, so have taken a plunge on an ew shot in the Coral Sprint handicap this afternoon, not what i would normally do i know but anyway good luck all with yours bets this weekend.

An excellent week, well done. As we reach the half way stage in the competition we are now nicely positioned in the yearly table.
A week off for us next week - does anyone know of anyone who wishes to join us as a replacement for Mully, as it would appear that he is not having any second thoughts about leaving the forum.

I've gone each way in the first at sandown so at least I will know my fate early.
A lot of selections needed today and will need to use a wild card for Mully. Has anyone any strong fancy or do we hold back until 3.00ish to see if other selections are needed in the event of any further no shows. I am out this morning but will be around most of the afternoon and will look in later.

Derhandy has not shown as yet - is there anyone else around to keep an eye on things as I have to go out at 4.00?
I've posted the wild card :Whiskey Junction each way 430 Bath Derhandy has not shown as yet - is there anyone else around to keep an eye on things as I have to go out at 4.00?
No one else appears to be around, and derhandy has not posted so I am playing a late wild card rather than waste a selection - cannot leave it any later as I am going out ( plus in any event the 1 hour rule limits the races left anyway)

No prob TT - we were way off 4th place but those extra points could easily have made the difference as it was very tight at the foot of the table.
Regarding the known wild card (Mully)I suggest that we sort this out much earlier so it can be played earlier in the week if preferred rather than a last minute panic.
In previous years we had a rota that seemed to work any other thoughts?

hopefully i will be able tobut i am way out of form with my picksi will be watching the world cup mainly but should be around to watch over thingsas i am running the heritage challenge comp
i wonder if we have a chance of a big payday in the hardwicke stakes... set up for a real stamina test and brutal race. worth taking on the front two (about 1/2 the pair) because it'll be a slog. not sure if duncan is a dog, but just as likely to be a proper stayer...must go close imo.
so i sugggest this as a w/c, DUNCAN e/w.

Not the best of weeks, but points still to play for.
Derhandy has not shown for two weeks, and although he will always be welcome back if he is temporary unable to post, I think we have to plan on the assumption we are presently two man down/two wild cards available.
One of the problems we have faced in recent weeks is playing wild cards late, and uncertainty as to who should play them.
I suggest that going forward we plan ahead and allocate the wild cards in advance to give more certainty plus the opportunity to post earlier in the week rather than waiting for the often competative Saturday cards.
Unless anyone has any strong objections, lets go with:
This week wild cards to be played by TTO and Thurnscoe
Next week Gart and KBGJ
The week after Duke of Puke and myself

Hi lads, just want to say that this week was my last in the comp. Can´t be bothered with the new forum now - half my posts don´t even appear - and I just don´t have time to think about it any more. Good luck for the future.

Well done to this weeks winners, thanks for letting us know about your decision TTO, and best of luck in the future.
Last week of the competition before the summer break, we are now 3 down so we will need to take stock in the summer months - We may not be the only team suffering following the changes to the forum and Undecided may well put out a call for new blood before the final 3 months of this years competition.
So we know where we are early doors the wild cards this week are to be played by Gart, KBGJ and Duke of Puke - hopefully this early allocation ensures we know where we stand and allows selections to be made early in the week if preferred.

Thanks for keeping your eye on things gart, always best to ensure we dont lose a pick.
I have just looked at the cumulatives as we reach the summer break, and despite us not having the best of weeks of late, we are still in with a shout for the seasonal championship.
We are not involved in next weeks game, so thats it for us until the competition returns in September.
I hope that you are all happy to continuing playingin the competition, and I believe that Undecided will be making a recruitment drive, so we could have some new faces to the team.
Have a good summer break, and keep an eye on any developments in the coming weeks.
Regards HH
